Dimeo Construction Company, a leading 3rd generation ENR Top 400 New England headquartered general contractor construction manager, is seeking to hire a Director / VP of regional business development. This position, based in the company’s greater Providence headquarters, will be part of the organization’s senior leadership team, reporting directly to the Executive Vice President and COO with core responsibility for growing the organization’s new business opportunities.The role will involve identifying and cultivating relationships in target market sectors, working alongside client executives that align with the new business capture goals of the organization. This will involve initiating and taking collaborative actions throughout the region with owners, clients, consultants, OPMs, and other industry targets that result in identification, prequalification, knowledge gathering, consulting, relationship building, and associated follow-up required to favorably position and differentiate Dimeo Construction Company. Engaging new opportunities via unsolicited contact is a primary responsibility and should be considered paramount to the success of this position.Dimeo’s organizational objective is to markedly grow the concentration of institutional, corporate, life science, public, and commercial work opportunities throughout New England, particularly in the Boston regional office. As director, you will be responsible for accelerating the number of targeted project opportunities and, in turn, gaining a greater number of new pursuits. The director of business development will play an important role in supporting the Boston business development team in identifying and cultivating new opportunities.Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Identify and cultivate new relationships in core markets and with strategic pursuits.Foster and maintain client relations, positioning the organization for ongoing and new opportunities.Cultivate relationships throughout the consultant and OPM constituencies.Facilitate an integrated pursuits capture strategy along vertical market sectors.Implement a plan that assures target market client development that results in pursuit opportunities.Work with the marketing team and client executives to support preparation and development of pursuit presentations.Provide leadership and support to the business development team in Massachusetts and the Boston office.Be responsible for RI & CT offices from a business development standpoint.Maintain open communication among internal stakeholders and the business development team.Actively participate in industry-wide events (AIA, NAIOP, SCUP, AGC-MA/CT, CBC, PWC, etc.).Engage with local officials at municipal and state levels.Update and maintain COSENTIAL - Unanet CRM platform for all new business activities.Address groups and public speaking forums, including client presentations as required.Meet regularly with client executives to review pursuit targets and new opportunities.Maintain action steps and pursuit follow-up reports.Critical Skills

Experience working under a high-paced, multi-stakeholder engaged process.Ability to determine and understand client construction questions and concerns and respond accordingly.Understanding of the commercial construction process and various project delivery approaches and the integrated sequencing of a construction project.Strong communications involving written, verbal, and conceptualizing ideas for presentation storyboarding.Ability to support and craft the development of written content for proposal responses.Discipline and diligence to multitask across various responsibilities utilizing strong time management skills.Understanding and comfort in engaging multiparty constituents in the client development process.CRM documentation of new business activities and follow-up.Qualifications

Individuals applying should have between 10 – 15 years of direct client business development consultancy experience, preferably in the construction industry. In addition, individuals with 2-5 years of direct field operations experience in a project engineering, management, or superintendency role are strongly encouraged to apply. Minimum educational requirement includes preferably a Bachelor of Science (BS) in a technical discipline – engineering, architecture, or business, with a graduate degree preferred.
