page of our website.The State's ecosystem protection, restoration, and fisheries management program is concerned with the maintenance, improvement, and expansion of saltwater and freshwater recreational and commercial fishery opportunities in the State. Basic program objectives require the conduct of studies to obtain information on the State's fisheries resources and the aquatic environment, and their deliberate modification to effect optimum sustained yields or use of desirable crops of aquatic life for the greatest benefit to the State.Aquatic Biologist VI:

Plans, directs, and coordinates a statewide freshwater or marine aquatic resources program; or district-wide aquatic resources program; and supervises lower-level Aquatic Biologist positions and/or professional staff.To qualify, you must meet all of the following requirements:

Education:

A bachelor's degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university with a major in marine biology, freshwater biology, ecology, environmental science, zoology or a related biological science.Specialized Experience:

Aquatic Biologist VI:

Four (4) years of progressively responsible professional work experience in fishery or aquatic biology which involved the management, conservation, development, utilization and protection of aquatic resources, and/or scientific research dealing with aquatic resources and environment.SUPERVISORY APTITUDE:

For the Aquatic Biologist VI level, applicants must possess Supervisory Aptitude. Supervisory aptitude is the demonstration of aptitude or potential for the performance of supervisory duties through successful completion of regular or special assignments which involved some supervisory responsibilities or aspects; by serving as a group or team leader, or in similar work in which opportunities for demonstrating supervisory and administrative capabilities exist; by completion of training courses in supervision accompanied by application of supervisory skills in work assignments; or by favorable appraisals by a supervisor indicating the possession of supervisory potential.Substitutions Allowed:
