We are looking for a full-time associate veterinarian for our busy large animal (predominately equine) practices. Located at the base of the eastern Sierra Nevada mountains, 30 minutes from Lake Tahoe, the area offers a wide variety of year-round activities including skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, biking, and kayaking to name a few. The Reno urban scene has much to offer with excellent dining, concerts, nightlife, and more. The Carson Valley is lush with irrigated pastureland and boasts prime equine real estate, picturesque mountain backdrops, and many equestrian riding venues on public lands.Both Comstock Equine and Great Basin Equine hospitals are well established and have become cornerstones of equine healthcare serving as referral facilities for the Western Nevada region. We are privately owned and managed and proudly committed to community and the promotion of the horse.We are seeking licensed veterinarians who will be committed to delivering compassionate patient care and professionally equitable service to our loyal and growing client base. Our caseload is roughly half ambulatory and half haul in/hospital for general equine practice, preventative medicine, dentistry, lameness, emergency, and some small ruminant work. Veterinary staff currently consists of a board-certified surgeon (an owner), a board-certified internist, three general practice associates, two owner veterinarians, and two interns rotating among all the doctors. We have multiple licensed veterinary technicians and veterinary assistants ensuring that all doctors have appropriate assistance on the road and in the hospital.We are committed to structured management that promotes an inclusive culture and supports a healthy work-life balance with flexible work schedules and shared emergency call. We are willing to invest and encourage strong continuous learning opportunities for doctors and staff.Compensation consists of a competitive base salary plus production paid on a pro-sal schedule. Benefits include health, dental, vision insurance, professional liability insurance, license fees, membership dues for AVMA, AAEP, Nevada VMA, a qualified retirement plan with a match, as well as a continuous education allowance. Vacation starts at 10 days per year with an additional day added each year of service up to 20 days earned annually.Doctor of veterinary medicine and licensure in the state of Nevada are required.
