Position TitleAssociate Athletic Director for Development

Job Description

Under the direction of the Vice President of UAAE, the Associate Athletic Director for Development will solicit private support for The University of Tulsa, specifically focusing on Golden Hurricane Athletics. This individual will be responsible for discovery, engagement, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift donors and prospects for the TU Department of Athletics.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Major Gift FundraisingDesign and execute fundraising goals and strategies that support and advance the athletics agenda through collaboration with the Director of Athletics and the Office of UAAE.Staff the AD and coaches on donor and prospect calls, including travel to cities outside of Tulsa, and actively assist in identifying new prospective donors.Maintain an active schedule of donor/prospect visits with an expectation of 20 qualified visits monthly.Analyze and evaluate donor trends for athletics constituencies for new and/or upgraded gifts, and special giving opportunities.Mentor the Director of Development for Athletics and assist in developing strategies for Golden Hurricane Champions Fund solicitations.Working with the Senior Director of Advancement Communications, develop proposals for support of major athletics initiatives.Collaborate with advancement colleagues affiliated with academic units to monitor overlap between major donors and prospects to ensure all solicitation strategies are developed in a coordinated fashion.Report and track fundraising progress using contact reports, prospect management through a sophisticated donor/prospect database.Donor Engagement and Stewardship

Develop and engage volunteers, donors, and colleagues in productive long-term relationships with the university.Collaborate with UAAE special events team and alumni engagement team to design and staff cultivation and stewardship activities that promote continued engagement with TU Athletics.Facilitate communication with donors and friends that fosters an environment of equity, inclusion, and belonging that values diverse life experiences, ideas, and perspectives.Other Duties as Assigned

Required Qualifications

JOB COMPETENCIES AND EXPERIENCE

Education and Certifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Master's degree preferredExperience

Three or more years professional experience in higher education fundraising, sales and marketing, or equivalent experience.Demonstrated success in soliciting and closing major gifts.Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively about engaging donors.Ability to create a climate of confidence and trust on the part of donors and colleagues.Good sense of humor and ability to have fun.Organizational Competencies

Proactively outlines goals, objectives, and deliverables to external stakeholders; takes time to actively learn about the stated needs by asking questions, exploring how to unite the donors and university's priorities; anticipates donor's needs; understands the critical importance of donor stewardship.Effective Communication:

Ability to converse about the importance and impact of collegiate athletics to multiple constituencies, including internal groups; excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as effective interpersonal skills including listening; asks questions to check understanding when disseminating information; demonstrated experience with consensus building among various competing interests.Execution and Initiative:

Willingness to forge new donor relationships; motivates self and others to achieve best results, displaying energy, drive and a desire to succeed; supervises cross-functional project team execution on tasks to meet state objectives; keen attention to detail; strong self-motivated worth ethic with a focus on teamwork; flexibility and punctuality in managing multiple tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree; previous successful experience coordinating volunteers in a fundraising program; proficiency with Raiser's Edge NXT; established record of cultivating, soliciting, and closing philanthropic gifts; demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively about engaging donors nationally, and to develop plans of action and follow through; ability to create a climate of confidence and trust on the part of donors and colleagues; and a familiarity with the university history and community.

Must be able to lift at least 15 lbs routinely
