Zero Gravity Craft Brewery is seeking a full-time Environmental Health and Safety Manager to join our team! The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing a comprehensive and integrated Safety, Health, and Environmental Program to ensure a healthy work environment.This role involves reviewing, developing, and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Additionally, the manager will foster a culture of safety, environmental stewardship, and sustainability within the brewery by spending time on the manufacturing floor for observation and coaching, conducting regular committee meetings, and providing safety updates at weekly manager meetings.Responsibilities:Manage Safety, Health and Environmental programs including but not limited to: Confined Space Entry; Ergonomics; Hazard Communication; Fall protection; Fire Safety; Hot Work; Emergency Evacuation; Lock-Out / Tag-Out / Try-Out (LOTOTO); Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); Hearing Conservation Program and Noise monitoring; Job Safety Analysis; Recycling ProgramPeriodically performs industrial hygiene studies to evaluate and control workplace hazards, including but not limited to: Decibel level readings; air quality samplings; ergonomic evaluations; confined space entry classification; and evaluation and selection of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)Manage workplace accident program: Conduct post-accident investigation, including root-cause analysis; assess treatment options; work with Workers Compensation carrier; implement Return to Work program and develop light duty work plans with department managers; log required OSHA accident reports as outlined by OSHA.Works closely with the Maintenance Department to ensure that new installations and overhauls include Safety and Food Safety evaluations and that contractors and guests are compliant with our Safety and Food Safety policiesManages Safety and Environmental programs and permits including, but not limited to EPA Tier II, Vermont Agency of Natural Resources (ANR) wastewater permitting, and Vermont Department of Health (DOH) Radiation-Producing Machines RegistrationCreates, evaluates and conducts new hire and annual refresher training program in compliance with federal regulations for all employees on various Environmental, Health, Safety, Food Safety and Food Defense topics as well as Class I, III, IV and V moving and lifting devices. Organizes additional training from external instructors as needed (First Aid / CPR, Defibrillator, Fire Extinguisher, etc.)Manages Sanitation programs including but not limited to: Good Manufacturing Practices; Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP); Pest Control Program; Chemical Control Program; Sanitation Logs, Sanitation SOPs; Master Cleaning List; Chemical Selection & Titration TargetsMonitor, analyze, and report key safety and environmental metrics. This includes tracking Safety metrics such as Total Case Incident Rate (TCIR), Days Away, Restricted or Transferred (DART) rates, and near misses. Additionally, oversee Environmental metrics such as water usage, electricity consumption, natural gas usage, CO2 emissions, and solid waste generation to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and support sustainability initiatives.Other duties as assignedWorking Environment/Physical DemandsWork is performed both in an office environment and on the manufacturing floor. Regular travel between ZG locations using a personal vehicle is required. Position involves occasional bending, standing, kneeling, climbing ladders, reaching below and above shoulders, and lifting objects weighing up to 55 pounds while performing job duties. Walking, climbing ladders, entering cramped and difficult locations and dusty/dirty environments, may be part of routine activities depending on work locations. Occasional lifting, guiding and/or carry of materials may be required.
