Program Counselor

to provide instruction of the Prison Fellowship Academy curriculum at the St. Bride's Correctional Institution for men in Chesapeake, VA.Expectations of this role:

Maintain an active relationship with Jesus Christ and support the ministry through prayer and actionsProvide instruction of the PF Academy curriculum using adult learning techniquesConduct regularly scheduled one-on-one progress meetings with participants to assess needs and track progress to goalsMaintain and create case files and performance agreements; consult with staff on release plansDevelop, maintain, communicate, monitor, and adjust master schedule for all Academy activities to include scheduling and supervision of volunteersScreen and place volunteer teachers and facilitatorsPromote and maintain positive working relationships within the prison settingQualifications:

Demonstrated ability to provide case planning and management for program participants within the prison3+ years of experience working with at-risk individuals, people who are incarcerated, or other relevant populationCollege degree in Behavioral Science or equivalent relevant experienceCross cultural sensitivity and experienceTraining and experience with substance abuse/recovery processExcellent written and oral communication/presentation skillsAbility and willingness to travel up to 5%Region may require employees to complete their COVID-19 vaccination series or have an approved exception to the requirement due to a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief. Successful candidates for this position may be asked to submit vaccination documentation or be approved for an exception prior to their first day of employment. Failure to provide proof of full documentation or receipt of an approved exception will lead to withdrawal of the job offer.What we offer:
