Vaccines & Immune Therapies (V&I)
is accountable for
leading the portfolio of Medical Evidence and Real-World Evidence (RWE) initiatives
for the V&I therapeutic area, ensuring the development and delivery of impactful evidence programs. The Head provides strategic feedback into evidence planning across the product lifecycle, driving innovative and scientifically robust evidence generation.The Medical and Payer Evidence Strategy Head
leads a V&I Evidence Team , consisting of both
scientific and strategic leaders , to ensure that impactful evidence is delivered with high scientific rigor and operational excellence according to multiple stakeholder needs. A
champion of integrated evidence planning and generation , the Medical and Payer Evidence Strategy Head is an active leader and contributor in multiple cross-functional teams across AZ, as well as engaging externally with key collaborators.You will be a core member of the V&I Medical Leadership Team, reporting into the V&I Medical Therapy Area VP. The position holder is also a key member of the Biopharmaceuticals Medical (BPM) Evidence Leadership Team, with a dotted line into the VP Global Evidence.Typical Accountabilities, what you will be doing:
Lead the portfolio of Payer and Medical Evidence for the V&I therapeutic area, ensuring the development and delivery of impactful and innovative evidence programs.Lead the Evidence Review Team (ERT) to provide governance and to ensure scientific and operational oversight and quality of all medical studies; lead Medical Affairs Review Council (MARC) upon delegation by TA VP.Provide strategic oversight of evidence portfolio for V&I (Interventional & observational studies and ESR), leading key critical initiatives and driving innovation within the V&I therapy area team.Assess and manage resourcing needs within the V&I evidence team; as an integral member of the V&I Evidence Resource Council provide input on TA evidence priorities and evidence plans to allow for cross-functional planning of resources across Medical and R&D.Partner closely with global, regional and local colleagues to build alignment on key evidence initiatives including evidence planning, generation, communication and resourcing.Provide leadership, expert line management, and coaching and mentoring of the V&I Evidence Strategy team with the ambition of industry leadership in the evidence generation space.Nurture talent and bring the value of epidemiology, medical evidence, and RWE to the fore within AZ.Education, Qualifications and Experience:
Master’s degree or Ph.D. in health research related field.Extensive experience working with primary and secondary data, clinical development, or other evidence related activities.Comprehensive knowledge of drug development processes in pharmaceutical/biotech industry.An understanding of the therapeutic areas related to AstraZeneca´s products, with a depth of understanding in Vaccines and / or Infectious Disease strongly preferred.Experience leading, motivating and empowering others to accomplish individual, team and organisational objectives.Experience leading and managing in a matrix environment, with outstanding skills around multi-tasking and prioritisation.Budget management experience.Consistent record to interact internally and externally with key customers.Innovative and out of the box evidence generation activities, inclusive of pragmatic clinical trials.Experience with external collaborations in support of evidence generation.Persuasive communicator in English with a proven ability to work collaboratively in a multi-cultural environment.Ability to influence strategically and persuade tactfully, to acquire desired outcomes while maintaining effective, positive organisational relationships.Demonstrated ability to set and manage priorities, resources, performance targets and project initiatives.Able to influence others at a senior level across the business in order gain dedication to strategy.Proven teamwork and collaboration skills.Location:
