API Platform owns and evolves the infrastructure that all of Samsara's services are built upon, from our GraphQL platform and central databases to Samsara's shared caching and data subscription framework. Every single operation at Samsara goes through our systems in one way or another, and you will have the opportunity to work with data at massive scale - hundreds of millions of requests per day. You will play a key role in improving the scalability, robustness, and observability of our systems, as well as innovate on tooling to expedite service development across all development teams. Build the platform to scale our service architecture by orders of magnitudeResearch and deeply understand the needs of our customers (both internal and external)Guide projects from concept, to ideation, to implementation, to feedback and improvementsChampion, role model, and embed Samsara's cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new officesMinimum requirements for the role:4+ years of experience working professionally with modern development practicesStrong programming/coding skills in a modern language such as Java, C#, Python, or GolangExperience designing and architecting robust, large-scale systemsA bias for "the right way" versus "the quick way"A focus on and desire to mentor fellow engineersAn ability to estimate, communicate, and deliver upon project milestones with your teamProactively identifying problems and opportunities, and suggesting solutions. We choose our own path.An ideal candidate also has:Experience or interest in any or all of: GraphQL, gRPC, Redis, Kafka, Kinesis, ElasticSearch, any similar technologiesExperience with technologies and techniques for robust service architectures: rate limiting, load shedding, circuit breakers, blue/green and canary deployments, security, performance testing, audit trails, service meshes, or any othersInterest in continually improving team processes, backed by a strong experience on efficient, self-directed teamsIn-depth experience working with public cloud providers such as AWS, Azure or GCPAdept at building and using observability tools, frameworks, and standard#LI-OnsiteSamsara’s Compensation Philosophy : Samsara’s compensation program is designed to deliver total compensation (based on role, level, and geography) that is above market. We do this through our base salary + bonus/variable + restricted stock unit awards (RSUs). A new hire RSU award is awarded at the time of hire, and additional RSU refresh grants may be awarded annually.

We pay for performance, and top performers are eligible to receive above target equity refresh awards which allow employees to achieve higher market positioning.The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below.
