Group/DivisionThe Instruments Group is passionate about development of state-of-the-art inspection and metrology equipment used in production and research and development environments. Organization is globally located in US, China, and Singapore. We provide critical cost-effective solutions for power electronics, LED, communications, automotive, data storage, and other related nanoelectronics and materials science applications. We partner with our customers to provide state of the art hardware and software to improve yield and lower overall production costs by supplying world-leading inspection, metrology and review systems. In addition to developing valuable product solutions, the group provides support to customers to achieve performance entitlement through sharing and implementation of application BKMs (Best Known Methods).

Job Description/Preferred QualificationsResponsibilities:

The Filmetrics business unit is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Manager to join our team in San Diego to help with the design, development, and release of our benchtop and automated optical profiler, resistivity, and thin-film thickness measurement systems.

Work with the marketing, hardware and software engineering, and PLC teams to define system architecture and develop system and sub-system level requirements and specifications.

Lead resource allocations, schedules, and budgets to achieve product and project work.

Lead development and training plans to support the personal and professional growth of team members.

Lead design teams to develop designs for components, sub-assemblies and systems from concept through release to production.

Drive prototype integration of assemblies, subsystems, and systems.

Guide configuration management of Bill of Materials (BOMs) to meet prototype and production requirements.

Work with supply chain and critical suppliers to support procurement and address technical and schedule questions or issues.

Drive the development of documentation to enable the transition of new products from engineering to manufacturing.

Position may require occasional domestic or international travel.

Qualifications:

Education in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering or relevant education.

Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a lead, supervisor or project lead role at a manufacturing company.

Understanding and consistent record in the practice of engineering principles and fundamentals, including design, material selection, fabrication, and integration and testing.

Successful track record of leading engineering teams and/or product development projects.

Strong oral and written communication skills including proficiency in technical writing and manufacturing documentation.

Able to connect with peers, interdisciplinary engineering groups, customers, and suppliers. Able to give effective technical presentations up to the Product Life Cycle (PLC) level.

Dedicated individual with keen technical ability, detailed approach, and excellent problem-solving skills. Candidate should have a positive outlook, detail oriented, and be a strong teammate!

Experience with manufacturing control systems (ERP, PLM, etc.).

Semiconductor equipment and cleanroom experience a plus.

Knowledge of SEMI, CE, RoHS, and other product compliance requirements a plus.

Minimum QualificationsTypically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelors or 3 years of related experience with a Masters Degree.
