The Human-centered AI team in Digital Health Oncology R&D is looking for an Associate Director of Data Science to specialize in the development of novel digital endpoints using data science, statistical learning, and innovative machine learning methods on multi-modal datasets including clinical data, real world evidence, imaging, wearables, and other biomedical data sources to address patient burden. This role will sit within the Digital Therapeutics, Diagnostics and Endpoints team with a heavy emphasis on interacting with the Therapeutic Areas, clinical trial teams and other collaborators in the product development cycle. Applicants should have a solid base in statistics and machine learning, detailed knowledge of the clinical trials space in the pharmaceutical industry and experience maintaining a portfolio of machine-learning enabled projects.

Responsibilities:

Drives projects with hands-on data science, analysis, or mathematical modeling.Delivers sophisticated data science solutions to AstraZeneca projects, selecting analytical methods with appropriate complexity given a clinical or business challenge.Engages technical and non-technical collaborators within the wider organization to frame sophisticated challenges, structure analytical solutions, and communicate results.Independently keeps own knowledge up to date and learns from senior team members, proposing appropriate training courses for personal development.Reviews working practices and ensures non-compliant processes are raised.Collaborates in a multidisciplinary environment with world leading clinicians, data scientists, biological experts, statisticians and IT professionals.Essential Requirements:

B.Sc. in a relevant field (such as mathematics, computer science, engineering) with 4+ years of industry experience (or equivalent experience in academic research).Demonstrated experience with and a sound understanding of a variety of statistical and machine learning methods and standard statistical/ML development practices.Practical software development skills in standard data science tools: Python, Agile, code versioning, UNIX skills, familiarity working in cloud environment and high-performance computing clusters.Knowledge of range of mathematical and statistical modelling techniques.Strong communication, business analysis, and consultancy skills; ability to present compelling cases to collaborators and operate dynamically to determine solutions.Desirable Requirements:

Advanced degree in rigorous quantitative science (such as mathematics, computer science, engineering).Sophisticated statistical and machine learning models such as hierarchical mixed bayesian models, transformer-based NLP models, reinforcement learning, deep learning models that span CNN/RNN/LSTM, GNNs, constrained optimization, innovative time series & forecasting models.Experience within the life sciences industry.Why Evinova (AstraZeneca)?
