A Brief Summary Of This PositionThis position is an individual contributor responsible for leading and managing the sales of the Convert TRJ Solar Tracker for a particular sales area/segment. Accountable for the achievement of in-territory revenue goals by sales organization, product, and customer. Will lead the development and promotion of knowledge, acceptance, and use of company products by users and purchasers. Responsible for building and maintaining key internal and external relationships. Establishes account strategy for the internal team and keeps all levels informed on key issues and opportunities.Valmont Utility, a business segment of Valmont Industries, Inc., is using its worldwide manufacturing infrastructure and established global supply chain to provide utilities with solar technology options for generating power. Valmont Utility supports and meets the needs of utilities by designing and manufacturing solutions for transmission, distribution, substation, and now renewable generation through solar structures and technology such as the Convert TRJ Single-Axis Tracker.

Essential FunctionsContinuously establish and develop business relationships with potential and new customers, expanding sales coverage in the region/customer baseContribute to the design, development, and implementation of the company’s sales planMaintain close relationships and communication with existing key accounts to understand their needs regarding technical, financial, logistic, and marketing support, and organize internal resources to meet those needs and identify new business opportunitiesAnalyze and monitor account customer data and develop reports on a regular basis based on customer information and development trendIdentify, establish, and manage multi-tiered relationships across customers and the company’s organization to ensure a long-term business partnershipConsistently meet or exceed assigned revenue goalsStay up to date with market information, including competitors and customers benchmarking and technical and financial market requirementsDevelop and maintain skills in: Motivating and Training People; Time Management; Professional Selling; Negotiation; Data Management; Sales Opportunity Strategy Development; Account Planning; and Networking & Relationship buildingProvide Voice of the Customer feedback to the organization and drive continuous improvement efforts focused on the customers.Support the launch activities of new products and servicesAttend sales meetings, conferences, and trade showsAbility to travel, primarily domestically, up to 50%, including overnight staysThis position reports to the Vice President & General Manager – North America Solar and has no direct or indirect reports

Required Qualifications of Every Candidate (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):Preferred Bachelors with 7+ years of experience in a sales management position with increasing levels of account and territory management responsibilities; or Associates Degree with 9+ years relevant experience; or 11+ years of relevant experienceExperience in the solar industry working with commercial/industrial customersA firm understanding of how a solar utility system is developed, procured, delivered, and constructedExperience developing and executing account strategiesExperience with value-added sellingDemonstrated ability to handle delicate customer negotiations

Working Environment And Physical EffortsWork is typically performed in an office setting. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods, as well as talk and listen on the phone and in personal conversations or meetings. The environment is fast-paced and demanding most of the time. Travel is required up to 50% of the time domestically, including overnight stays. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms while working in the office with various files and forms and while working on the computer. The employee is occasionally required to move about the office. Incumbent must utilize proper ergonomic safeguards such as monitor height and positions, keyboard location and height and proper wrist rests. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds in working with large files, binders, and computer equipment. The minimum base pay is $115,200 and the max is $210,700 plus bonus eligible.
