Role Overview:The Business Development Director will play a pivotal role in driving growth within Mazzetti’s key market sectors, Healthcare and Life Sciences, on the West Coast. Responsible for crafting and executing comprehensive BD strategies, this role requires a deep understanding of the regional market landscape, fostering relationships with key stakeholders, and aligning efforts with the national BD strategy. The successful candidate will demonstrate a track record of meeting sales targets, conducting market research, and positioning the company for successful project pursuits.Responsibilities :Strategic Planning:

Develop and execute a regional BD prospecting plan aligned with Mazzetti’s national strategy to drive growth in key market sectors.Relationship Building:

Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders including owners, architects, contractors, construction managers, and project managers to identify and capitalize on business opportunities.Collaboration:

Partner with technical BD Directors and other regional BD Directors to ensure cohesive client relationship management and pursuit strategies.Market Research:

Conduct ongoing market research to stay abreast of industry trends, client needs, and competitor activities.Decision Making:

Lead Go/No-Go discussions for key pursuits, considering potential implications for existing proposals and future opportunities.Capture Planning:

Develop comprehensive capture plans to position the company for success in long lead projects.Lead Tracking:

Identify and track leads, converting them into actionable opportunities for the company.Proposal Support:

Provide guidance to internal teams on proposal responses, leveraging knowledge of client hot buttons and market dynamics.Client Engagement:

Coordinate with clients for interview preparation and requirements, providing guidance and support to Mazzetti staff as needed.Networking:

Build and maintain relationships with industry partners, including minority and small business firms, for potential teaming opportunities.CRM Management:

Capture relevant information and intel in the CRM system to inform future strategies and initiatives.Learning & Development:

Facilitate BD learning and development opportunities for staff to enhance their skills and capabilities.Event Coordination:

Identify and participate in key industry events, coordinating staff participation, presentations, client events, and industry engagements.Client Engagement Activities:

Organize and coordinate client lunch and learn events, workshops, and other engagement activities to foster relationships and drive business opportunities.RequirementsBachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or related field. MBA preferred.Minimum of 7 years of experience in Business Development or Sales within the Healthcare or Life Sciences industry.Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and driving revenue growth.Comprehensive understanding of the corporate structures within the targeted regions and familiarity with decision-making processes.Ability to travel up to 35%, including local, regional, and occasional national events.Additional Requirements:Exceptional communication and presentation skills.Strong negotiation and influencing abilities.Proficiency in CRM software, preferably Deltek Vantagepoint, and Microsoft Office Suite.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Demonstrated ability to think strategically and execute tactically.What We OfferThe typical salary range for a Business Development Director in California is $150,000 - $200,000. The ultimate compensation may vary depending on your experience and job-related skills.
