UCSF Division of Hospital Medicine General Medicine Night Hospitalist PositionThe UCSF Division of Hospital Medicine at UCSF Health is seeking applicants for the general medicine night hospitalist position. Our goal is to provide these new faculty members with clinical experiences that match their career interests. Many faculty in the general medicine night hospitalist position ultimately transition to subspecialty fellowships, while others remain on faculty long-term and transition to clinical or academic hospitalist positions.Job detailsMedicine Night Hospitalist Service at UCSF-ParnassusThe Night Hospitalist Service (NHS) provides direct care, supervision of medicine housestaff, nighttime education for medicine housestaff, and nighttime coverage of hospitalist direct care medicine services at UCSF-Parnassus. Four hospitalists are in-house overnight, each with specified roles and responsibilities including: new admissions, cross-coverage, ED-to-medicine triage, and medicine consultation and comanagement. Night hospitalists provide clinical care for 12 hour shifts and sign out to the daytime direct care hospitalists and housestaff teams in the morning. In addition to the night hospitalists, the night team at Moffitt-Long Hospital consists of multiple residents and subspecialty nighttime hospitalists (Cardiology, Heme-BMT). Night hospitalists may also rotate at other UCSF Health sites, including Mount Zion and Mission Bay hospitals, where they provide direct care and medicine consultation.Medicine Night Hospitalist Service at St. Mary's Medical CenterSt. Mary's Medical Center (SMMC) is a community-based hospital located 1 mile away from UCSF-Parnassus. The medical service at SMMC is part of the UCSF Division of Hospital Medicine and has an independent Internal Medicine Residency Program. The nighttime hospitalist at SMMC is responsible for direct care, supervision of medicine housestaff, nighttime education of medicine housestaff, and cross-coverage of the hospitalist direct care medicine services. The night hospitalist is responsible for admitting patients in turn with the overnight medicine residents and completes overnight medicine consults. The hospitalist provides clinical care for a 12-hour shift and signs out to the daytime direct care hospitalists and housestaff teams in the morning.To best meet the needs of our diverse patient population, trainees, and the city of San Francisco, the Division of Hospital Medicine is specifically seeking applicants who demonstrate a unique contribution and commitment to diversity. The minimum base salary range for this position is $104,800-$320,100.
