As our new Senior Software Developer/Engineer, you will join our talented Development team in building Vista Higher Learning’s unique and industry-leading online language education products.OUR TECHNOLOGY STACK
Languages/Frameworks: Ruby/Rails, JS, VuePersistence: MySQL, Postgres, Redis, ElasticSearchHosting: AWSIN THIS ROLE YOU WILL:Participate in all aspects of the software development lifecycle - from project planning and design to implementation and release.Collaborate with team members to deliver development projects on time and with efficiency.WHY IS THIS EXCITING?
VHL is a growth organization and this role will play a key role on our Engineering team.You Must Have (minimum Required Skills & Experience)High School Diploma/GED + required work experience.7+ years of Software Engineering experience developing large-scale systems.Experience building and deploying high-capacity applications in cloud environments (AWS or GCP).Experience using source code management systems (i.e. Git/Github, or similar).Experience with Ruby/Rails.IDEAL IF YOU HAVE or ARE (PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE)A strong understanding of how to architect solutions for scalability and performance.Experience with SQL, Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch and command line *nix environments.Experience in ed-tech, education, language-learning or similar industries.Mentor level knowledge of modern JavaScript, CSS, HTML.Familiarity with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and best practices for meeting 2.1 AA compliance.LOCATIONBoston/Remote Hybrid:
Ideal candidate will be located within close proximity to our Boston office location and be willing to work a Hybrid schedule. Fully remote candidates may be considered. Relocation assistance is not available. Position requires current residence within the United States of America.
