Fixed-term, 3 years (renewable) @ 100% FTEThe Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking a Senior Research Scientist. The Senior Research Scientist will be involved directly in the execution of the Department's research activities. Emergency Medicine is a rapidly-developing field, and Stanford is leading research in many facets of care. The department benefits from collaboration with other disciplines at Stanford, within local Silicon Valley, and across the globe.Stanford is leading research efforts to transform health care for all through Precision EM. Precision Emergency Medicine utilizes information and technology to effectively, efficiently, and authentically deliver acute care for our individual patients and our communities.RESEARCH AREAS INCLUDE:Emergency Care Systems; Informatics; AI/Machine Learning; Global and Population Health; Pediatric Emergency Medicine; Emergency Medical Services; Point-of-care Diagnostics; Pandemic Preparedness and Response; Digital Health; Healthcare Technologies; Translational Medicine and Clinical Trials.The candidate will support department faculty, trainees, and students with varying levels of experience with research to plan studies, data collection, and data management towards analysis and publication of results. The candidate will work with faculty and trainees in a collaborative team science fashion offering mentorship through participation. The candidate will supervise the work of departmental research data analysts available to support data management, the conduct of study analyses, and co-preparation of manuscripts for results publication in the literature.Qualifications:Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or an alternative appropriate discipline.Candidates for the senior position will ordinarily have completed a minimum of five years at the Research Scientist, Engineer, or Scholar rank (or will have equivalent experience).Ability to support the education of physician faculty and medical trainees as collaborative peers in study design, conduct of research data analyses, and associated academic presentation and publication of research methods.Experience in supervising the work of data analysts available to support the conduct of study analyses while conducting analysis directly when needed.Proficiency in statistical languages such as Python, R, SAS, SPSS, STATA.Excellent written and oral skills with experience writing medical research papers.Ability to work independently and as part of the department’s internal data sciences team.Strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare materials for and clearly and effectively communicate information to internal and external audiences and client groups.Please submit a cover letter, current CV, publications list, and at least 3 reference letters.
