Fire and Security Engineer - Charlotte, NC
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Create fire alarm shop drawings including floor plan device layouts, equipment selections, and bill of material lists.
Perform power supply voltage drop calculations and secondary battery load calculations.
Develop system narratives and specifications, system design and layout, field investigation, and construction administration.
Receive project specifications from the sales team and design associated fire alarm, security, and CCTV systems for installation.
Prepare all required submittals and schedule subsequent hand-off to operations.
Participate in initial job site walkthroughs for assessment of current installations considered for retrofit or replacement.
Support and assist the field installation and commissioning of security and/or fire detection and alarm systems in strict accordance with specifications and quality control.
Interface with the pre-construction team as required.
Follow safety rules and keep the work area in a clean and orderly condition.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Three to five years minimum of fire alarm system design engineering experience.
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or other equivalent engineering disciplines and/or an equivalent combination of education, training, and field experience.
Ability to satisfy North & South Carolina Security licensing requirements and complete a background check.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD.
Experience in preparation of contract fire alarm shop drawings and specifications, field survey skills, performing calculations, and a thorough knowledge of State and Federal fire alarm and building code standards.
Preferred Requirements:
Knowledge of Fire Alarm systems (Honeywell Notifier product experience a plus) and associated Building and NFPA fire Code requirements.
Knowledge of Security and CCTV Alarm systems (Honeywell product brand experience a plus) and associated Building and NFPA fire Code requirements.
NICET Fire Alarm Systems certification.
Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) a plus.
Travel:
No overnight travel. Will mainly cover an hour radius of Asheville.
