10 - 15%Job DescriptionWe are the FIS Embedded Finance team and are looking for a Principal level Software Engineer / Architect to help us build a brand-new financial technology platform for the future. You will have the opportunity to ensure we have a consistent and well-architected cloud-native architecture, covering operational excellency, security, reliability, performance, cost optimization, and sustainability. We are looking for a technical leader with deep expertise in building and operating services at enterprise scale.In our team, technical contributors at this level are both visionary leaders and hands-on builders. They work on our hardest and most ambiguous problems. They have strong technical judgment and the communication skills to influence at the CTO and exec level as a key technical advisor. They should be able to provide both architectural guidance and detailed technical direction while nurturing a continuous delivery culture.GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Spend a significant amount of time writing and reviewing code and setting a bar for the engineering team to adopt.Serve as a technical leader on our most demanding, cross-functional projects.Functionally decompose complex problems into simple, straightforward solutions.Fully and completely understand system inter-dependencies and limitations.Possess expert knowledge in performance, scalability, enterprise system architecture, and engineering best practices.Assist in the career development of others, actively mentoring individuals and the community on advanced technical issues and helping managers guide the career growth of their team members.Exert technical influence over multiple teams, increasing their productivity and effectiveness by sharing your deep knowledge and experience. You are a visionary leader, builder, and operator.Balance technical leadership and savvy with strong business judgment to make the right decisions about technology choices.Qualifications

10+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.5 years of experience in designing, implementing, and operating secure architecture and reference architectures in public AWS/Azure/GCP cloud.Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, asynchronous architectures, and distributed algorithms.Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.Deep hands-on technical expertise in at least one major technical area: large scale full stack development, building complex distributed systems, designing massive global networks.Strong technical credentials, with at least 12 years of technical engineering leadership, with 5+ years of experience in large scale distributed system development including hands-on operational experience.Proven experience with full development life cycle for large-scale software products including extensive experience with service-oriented architectures, design patterns, and web services.In-depth knowledge of system programming.Excellent leadership, verbal, and written communication skills.This position is based in the greater Seattle/Bellevue area. We plan to bring the team together regularly for design, ideation, and connection building.FIS is committed to providing its employees with an exciting career opportunity and competitive compensation. The pay range for this full-time position is $157,330.00 - $264,320.00 and reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for this position based on the posted role, level, and location. Within the range, actual individual starting pay is determined by additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Any changes in work location will also impact actual individual starting pay.
