The Department of Italian Studies at UC Berkeley welcomes applications for a pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach Italian Studies courses, should a departmental need arise, in any of the following possible areas:Italian LanguageReading and Composition (first- and second-year undergraduate writing courses in English on Italian topics, using Italian literature in translation)Italian Literature and/or Culture (may include History, Film, Politics, and/or other related topics)General Duties:

In addition to teaching responsibilities, general duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and interacting with students outside of class time via email and campus web-based course resources.The department is committed to creating an inclusive environment, one that is supportive of all individuals, regardless of background.Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

Completed Master's degree (or equivalent international degree)Additional Qualifications:

For those who are not US citizens or permanent residents, a legal permit that allows work in the United States is required by the start date of the position.Preferred Qualifications:Completed PhD in Italian Studies (or international equivalent degree) or closely related field strongly preferredFluency in English and ItalianExperience and demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level in the U.S.If hired to teach R&C, demonstrated experience teaching reading and writing in English.If hired to teach a language course, professional training in language teaching.Demonstrated expertise of Italian literature and culture.Application Requirements
