Work for the IMF. Work for the World.The Information Technology Department Data & Economics Economic Modeling Services Section (ITDDEEM) is looking to fill a contractual position as Associate Econ. Data Engineer I. The primary role will involve migrating existing macroeconomic models/frameworks into an innovative forecasting platform. The selected candidate will contribute to the development of forecasting models, collect and process data, and communicate with stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the platform.This is a contractual appointment for one year, renewable for up to four years of cumulative contractual service, depending on the business need and performance of the incumbent.Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Collaborate with senior economists and subject matter experts to migrate existing macroeconomic models and frameworks into the forecasting platform.Collect relevant macroeconomic data from various sources, ensuring data integrity and quality, and clean, transform, and process the data for modeling and analysis purposes.Contribute to the development and enhancement of forecasting models within the platform by implementing modeling techniques and statistical methodologies.Interact and communicate with stakeholders to understand their requirements, gather feedback, and provide regular updates on model migration and development progress.Support the maintenance and optimization of the forecasting platform by identifying areas for improvement, proposing enhancements, and assisting in resolving technical issues.Minimum Qualifications:

Educational development, typically acquired through the completion of an advanced university degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or related field of study or equivalent; or a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field of study plus a minimum of six years of relevant professional experience, is required.Strong proficiency in data manipulation and transformation using Excel and other relevant tools.Programming skills, preferably in languages such as Matlab, VBA for Excel. Knowledge of JSON and XML is a plus.Solid understanding of macroeconomic concepts and the ability to analyze and interpret macroeconomic data.Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and collaborate with cross-functional teams.Sound organizational and data management skills, and ability to handle several responsibilities and work under tight time constraints.This is a one-year contractual appointment.
