General Purpose and Scope of Position:

The Accounting Manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining a thorough understanding of Wilbur-Ellis Cost Accounting processes to ensure that system functionality and performance meet current and future business requirements. The Manager will be responsible for ensuring proper accounting treatment for special programs including seed and branded products, participating in month-end and year-end closing activities, overseeing proper inventory costing (standard and weighted average), and performing ad hoc financial and operational analysis and reporting.

Key Skills and Abilities Include:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required5+ years of Cost Accounting experienceSupervisory experienceCPA preferredProcess improvement experience preferredIn-depth knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting PrinciplesStrong analytical skills, problem-solving, and the ability to handle multiple responsibilities effectivelyStrong business acumen skills to understand the business and its impacts on the financialsExcellent communication skills in working with resources from varying levels within the organizationAdvanced proficiency with MS Excel and other database toolsSolid experience using ERP and Financial Analytics systems

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:

Supervise one accountant to ensure quality and accurate completion of the assigned workParticipate in month-end and year-end closing activities and prepare for GL reconciliationsPrepare audit schedules and provide support for the financial auditProvide oversight for compliance with GAAP for special programs (Seed, Branded, Alliances, Agency)Collaborate with Operations to understand, review, and update the standard costsReconcile and analyze the accrual balances related to standard costsPeriodically review company policies and business programs with operations and recommend adjustments for inventory reserve, contingency reserve, and NRVGuide to resolving unusual variances and transactions related to inventory costs and marginsUnderstand and review absorption costs and processesAct as a liaison between accounting and operationsUnderstand the complexity of reports that require extensive analysis and interpretation of data and draw logical conclusions based on various perspectivesDocument processes and proceduresPerform other duties as assignedSome travel required – up to 3 weeks per year (if residing outside Seattle/Tacoma travel up to 20%)

Compensation and Benefits:

In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the base compensation for this position ranges from $100,500 - $140,700. Note that salary may vary based on location, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and vacation, holidays, health, dental, vision, mental health, retirement plans, and other benefits.
