The Building Inspection Department Manager
is responsible for performing structural building inspection duties and managing the day-to-day completion of structural building inspections (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing as needed). The person needs to be reliable (responsible, punctual, etc.) and have a good work ethic. They need to cooperate with co-workers and clients, and they also should be able to listen, understand, and follow instructions.Job Responsibilities:
Perform Structural Building Inspection duties (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing as licensed).Inspect commercial and residential buildings under construction or being repaired, remodeled, enlarged, and performed during various stages of completion to ensure structural integrity and compliance with building codes/ordinances.Manage 1-20 building inspectors, plan reviewers, quality control inspectors, and office administrative staff.Determine whether changes may be required in plans and recommend contractors, engineers, architects, etc.Perform inspections of foundations, concrete slabs, framing, roofing, and related construction work when necessary.Maintain accurate, complete, and current inspection records and exercise tact and courtesy when conducting inspections.Prepare reports and data in a complete, timely, and understandable fashion and return them as required to a branch office.Complete daily time and labor reports in accordance with company policy.Ensure that project requirements are met and compliant with inspection specifications, requirements, and company policies or procedures.Additional Requirements:
Travel to various job sites at locations locally. Proper attire to be worn (work shirt and work boots). When driving a company vehicle, follow all Driving Laws and adhere to company safety procedures and policies. Know other duties as may be assigned from a management standpoint.Required Qualifications:
State of Florida Standard Building Inspector License (BN) or Building Code Administrator License (BU).Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing License.State of Florida Plan Review Certification (PX).State of Florida Standard 1 + 2 Family Inspector License.Preferred Qualifications:
State of Florida P.E. or Architect License.3-5 years of related construction experience.Certified Building Official License (CBO).
