What you'll be challenged to do:Our Meriden, CT location has an opening for a Project Engineer with 5-10 years experience in bridge/highway design to work on projects throughout the New England region. Experience with ConnDOT procedures along with a PE license and familiarity with Microstation is highly desirable. This is a FT position with a very competitive benefit package within a fast growing national transportation engineering firm.The position requires the ability to work in a team and communicate clearly with clients and team members. Ability to solve problems and plan tasks with an understanding of "Critical Path Management". Ability to clearly describe observations and convey information with sketches and technical writing.Participate in structural engineering assignments as part of a bridge/structure design team.Perform engineering calculations, propose appropriate design solutions and prepare CADD drawings as required.Assist in the preparation of engineering reports documenting existing conditions, proposed repairs and estimated costs.Progress designs from initial evaluations, through feasibility studies, design plans and final construction.Review shop drawings and respond to contractor requests for information on projects in construction.Other duties as may be assigned to meet business needs.Qualifications

What you bring to our firm:Bachelors degree from an accredited engineering curriculum plus appropriate continuing education.At least five years experience in bridge/structure design.Professional Engineering License desired; completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering licensing exam required.Experience with AASHTO, AREMA, AISC, ACI Design Specifications.Routine client contact involved on technical matters.PC literate: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, CADD (AUTOCAD or Bentley MicroStation)Structural Analysis/Design programs: MIDAS, STAAD, BrR, BrDActively engages multiple perspectives when solving problems, seeks to learn from peers, and encourages reciprocal learning among team members.Actively advocates for full inclusion in the workplace, fostering an environment that welcomes diversity and values equity for all employees, partners, clients, and the communities that TranSystems serves.What we’d prefer for you to bring to our firm:CTDOT Bridge Design Manual and Standard Specifications experience desired.TranSystems is proud to be an equal opportunity / affirmative action employer and ensures nondiscrimination and equal employment opportunity in all programs and activities in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations.
