Trident seeks an enthusiastic and highly capable Director of Operations to join the Trident Leadership Team working in our Northern Virginia (Fairfax and Chantilly) facilities. This is a hands-on position and is responsible for ensuring tactical execution and strategic planning of hardware integration and production through effective and efficient use of facilities, staff, and technology. The Director of Operations role oversees and directs operations of all production areas (multiple sites) to ensure that volume, cost, waste, and quality standards are achieved. An ideal candidate will skillfully collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop overall integration and production schedules, materials, and resource requirements to meet short and long-term production goals at a rapidly growing space business.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Oversee and direct the manufacture of products to consistently meet production, performance, and quality standards.Oversee efforts of facility managers as it relates to new production and integration activities.Work with Business Area Managers and Program Managers to develop and adhere to operating budget.Work with Business Area Managers, Program Managers and other stakeholders to develop forecasts to support production requirements of the business.Maintain proper staffing to support demand forecast and balance overall workload across projects while deconflicting resources to support program schedules.Lead Lean and Six Sigma continuous improvement programs.Lead employee development, training, coaching, and career path planning for corporate organization.Participate in recruitment, hiring, and training processes for corporate employees.Review production reports to ensure safety, quality, financial, and delivery goals and standards are met including active management of corporate driven cost/schedule/risk/opportunities.Create and support a healthy and safe working environment that complies with federal and state regulations.Ensure long-range operating goals, expansion efforts, and implementation of new and advanced manufacturing technology.Support Business Development and Growth and Strategy in business growth activities.Support Quality in maintaining ISO and AS9100 certification standards with all processes.Partner with business leaders to support the advancement of company and corporate goals and initiatives.Continuously evolve departmental structure, teams, and processes for optimal and efficient operations.QUALIFICATIONS
Required Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesBachelor’s or Master’s Degree.Demonstrated experience managing an aerospace production process with quantifiable metrics.Strong understanding of hardware manufacturing principles, preferably of electronic assemblies comprised of circuit cards, cables, and chassis components.Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems – preferably Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.Ability to obtain a Security Clearance is preferred, but not required.Years of Experience:At least 10 years of experience leading integration and production activities.PERFORMANCE MEASURES
Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.Experience performing and working in a dynamic and high-visibility role.Self-motivated and capable of performing tasks with minimal guidance.Track record of leading teams to firm up ambiguous requirements and stand-up processes/structure to execute new product offerings.Experience with space EO payloads, test plan development, astronomy, physics, electronics, software, and/or remote sensing.Ability to lead teams to the completion of program and project milestones.Excellent organizational and managerial skills.Demonstrated ability through work experience to partner across departments to achieve results.Thorough understanding of policies and practices used in the integration and production division.Accomplished in setting long-term goals, communicating them to the team, and obtaining buy in from employees.Skillful in organizing multiple efforts to accomplish goals.Ability to support travel or off-site work as needed.
