Staff Software Engineer (Embedded Systems)

RESPONSIBILITIES:The following job duties outline the position requirements and are subject to change from time to time as business conditions dictate at the discretion of the Manager:Develop software solutions by studying product issues and customer needs.Document and demonstrate solutions following company standards and methods.Stay close to the leading edge of development practices by studying state-of-the-art development tools, programming techniques, and computing equipment.Accomplish engineering and organization mission by completing related results as needed.Work collaboratively with other engineers to achieve goals.Improve processes at ATX by observing our behavior and recommending change to the Manager.QUALIFICATIONS:The team member will possess the following qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or related field combined with a minimum of five (5) years of related experience, OR a Master’s Degree in computer science or related field, OR a PhD in computer science or related field.Good communication skills, both verbal and written.Excellent analytical and empirical problem-solving abilities.Ability to multitask and accommodate change.Proven strong Modern C++ skills.Experience with Linux on larger embedded systems (1GHz+, 250MB+), including Openembedded/Yocto Project.Optionally experience with digital video: MPEG Transport Stream, DVB, ATSC.Optionally experience with IP Networking, including VLANs, UDP, and Multicast.SUPERVISION:This position does not directly supervise staff but may act as a team technical lead on projects and provide mentorship or instruction.FINANCIAL:This position does not have direct financial management responsibilities.TRAVEL:This position requires you to come into the San Diego office only once a week.
