Join us in making the world a better place through the power of bicycles and build your dream career at the same time!SOFTWARE ENGINEERING MANAGER (Platform)As a Software Engineering Manager at Specialized, you will manage, guide, and mentor full stack and backend developers to deliver a variety of amazing and innovative features across our digital ecosystem. You'll be crucial in maximizing developer efficiency to ensure we deliver on apps that can improve the experience of cycling for our riders through ride recording, Retul personalization and fit technology, connected products such as e-bikes, and more. As part of a passionate team tasked with using technology to pedal the planet forward, you'll develop a deep understanding of our products, tech stacks, ecosystem, and career progression. The apps that your team will work on are currently deployed and utilized by hundreds of thousands of riders and thousands of retailers around the world.How You’ll Make a DifferenceWorking with our digital team, you will connect with designers, product owners, architects, and back-end developers to align on cross-team dependencies and ensure follow through of promises from your team.Provide clear documentation and communication of results to a diverse audience of stakeholders, other tech and non-tech teams, product owners, and company leadership.Help coordinate projects and tasks that span across multiple teams, and understand when and how other teams need to be involved by knowing our interconnected systems.Perform regular and meaningful 1:1 meetings with your direct reports.You will nurture an atmosphere of trust and continuous improvement by serving as a coach and mentor to your team.Actively participate in the software development community and hiring process to attract talent.Ensure high engagement and retention by continually removing obstacles and advocating for your team.Participate in career growth plans, compensation analysis, performance assessments, and promotions.You are passionate about building and encouraging good engineering practices and processes like version control, test-driven development, thorough peer review, continuous integration, and build/test/release automation.What You Need To WinKnack for simple and sophisticated solutions to problems.You thrive in a dynamic environment and have a track record of technical expertise and management responsibility.You have strong people management and leadership skills, and a proven track record of mentoring and coaching technical team members to be successful.Eloquent and passionate about explaining technical issues in a concise and understandable way.You believe in and lead with a servant leadership model.Ability to ask the right questions to innovate. “What do I need to know to make this better?”Experience with software engineering teams (preferable backend).Experience managing a team that uses agile practices.WAYS TO STAND OUT FROM THE CROWDBA/BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience.8+ years of software development experience.3+ years experience managing a team of senior and mid-level software engineers (preferable backend).Knowledge or experience with AWS, microservices, serverless (Quarkus), AWS EventBridge, CI/CD, Cognito.Strong understanding of a cloud-native, modern, and growing backend ecosystem.PAYBelow is a summary of compensation elements for this role at the company if based in the following locations:Colorado Base Pay Range: ($113,000 - 175,000 annual)At Specialized, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package and will depend on your work experience, skills, certification, and location.BenefitsAlong with competitive pay, as a full-time teammate you are eligible for the following benefits beginning 30 days from date of hire.
