1 availableThe Role:Pachama is looking for a Forest Carbon Scientist to join our team to help develop new forest carbon projects. In this role, you would be responsible, alongside our Project Implementation team, to ensure the success of new carbon projects and their credit accounting. You would use Pachama models and collect new data where needed to quantify carbon benefits and perform other analyses necessary for creating, registering, and verifying a carbon project. You also will help to evaluate potential new projects or expansion opportunities for Pachama to identify high potential new partners.You would be excited about this role if you love the idea of working cross-functionally to make conservation and restoration projects happen. You love to problem solve and are interested in using data to help to create carbon projects that deliver meaningful climate benefits. You have experience with forest carbon projects and understand how forest carbon methodologies work, possibly even having participated in creating a past project or verifying carbon projects.Location:This role is remote with a preference for being within 3 hours of Pacific time. Through the Pachama marketplace, responsible companies and individuals can connect with carbon credits from projects that are protecting and restoring forests worldwide.What You Will Help Us With:Conduct a range of analyses necessary at each phase of carbon project development, including accurately quantifying true carbon benefits using Pachama’s technology and methods.Contribute to development of new techniques and tools to improve efficiencies.Contribute to the development of PDDs, and prepare other written reports of findings for Pachama and its stakeholders.Design and process field plot inventories and satellite data analyses.Develop and/or employ tree growth models for eco-regions across North and South America.Analyze site suitability for restoration efforts.Experience & Skills We're Looking For:Knowledge of carbon project methodologies in Verra, ACR, or CAR.2-5 years experience in forest carbon project development or auditing.Experience with forest plot data collection and statistically rigorous sampling design.Experience with tree growth models and allometric equations.Experience with GEE, QGIS, ArcGIS, or other spatial analysis tools.About Pachama:Restoring nature to solve climate change.Company Size:
