You will use methods ranging from organic chemistry, in vitro biochemistry (protein expression, GTPase assays, intact protein mass spec), to cell biology (work with cancer cell lines, western blots, viability assays, imaging). You will have the opportunity to do translational research and explore new methods as part of your training before pursuing the next steps in your career.Required Qualifications

Specialists appointed at the junior rank must possess a bachelor's degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of research experience.Specialist appointed at the Assistant rank must possess a master's degree or a bachelor's degree with 3 or more years of research experience.Excellent verbal and written communication skillsScientific lab experience and comfortAbility and desire to learn new experimental approachesCandidates must meet the required qualifications at the time of appointment.Candidate's CV or cover letter must state required qualifications (or if pending) upon submission.Preferred Qualifications

Basic skills on designing and performing synthesis of organic molecules, and their characterizations.Experience with molecular cloning and recombinant protein purification.Knowledge of biochemical assays, for example mass spectrometry-based covalent protein labeling, and fluorescence-based protein-protein interaction, etc.Experience with computational chemistry for discovery of small molecule ligand of protein targets.Common problems solved by the employee:Molecular cloning of K-Ras mutant oncogenes.Purification of recombinant K-Ras proteins with various codon 12/13 mutations.Maintain a few cancer cell lines.Less frequent and more complex problems solved by the employee:Organic synthesis of a library of potential covalent modifiers of K-Ras(G13C) protein, and characterization of the synthesized compounds.Biochemical assay of the synthesized compounds using mass spectrometry, and interpretation of the outcome data.Problems/situations that are referred to this employee's supervisor:Complex experimental designs or procedures that require additional expertise or resources.Unforeseen technical difficulties or unexpected results that require troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Please apply online at
