Only US citizens and Greencard holdersJob Description:IFF is looking for an innovative Scientist to join our R&D team in the field of Fungal Molecular Biology and Strain Construction at the Genencor Technology Center in Palo Alto, CA. At IFF Health & Biosciences, our R&D team develops microbial production strains (bacteria, yeast, and filamentous fungi) and engineers enzymes for applications in the areas of food & beverages, biofuels, home & personal care, animal feed, paper & textile processing, and more. We have a strong focus on providing sustainable solutions on an industrial scale, and we are constantly evolving and innovating to offer competitive high-end products to our international customers. For this position, we are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated researcher to join our Fungal Molecular Biology and Strain Engineering team. The successful candidate will have extensive hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of molecular biology. Experience in fungal genetics and protein expression is a plus. Enjoying cooperation in multidisciplinary teams and a passion for science and technology are essential.Responsibilities:Engineering fungal strains for maximal protein productionCarrying out fundamental research to understand and improve on all aspects of fungal growth, fermentation, genetic engineering stress, tolerance, and protein production to create optimized cell factoriesIdentifying and implementing new and emerging developments and techniques in the fieldKeeping up to date with relevant scientific and intellectual literaturePreparing and presenting technical reports, data summaries, protocols, and other technical and regulatory documentationParticipating in developing the intellectual property strategy and drafting patent applications in collaboration with peers and the legal teamAt IFF in Palo Alto, we believe that the difference is made in the lab; in this position >50% of the time is expected to be spent on lab workQualifications:Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics, Synthetic Biology, Biotechnology or similar, preferably with 1-3 years of experience in industry or relevant academic experienceAlternatively, we will consider candidates with B.S. or master’s degrees with 8 plus years of experience in industryExperience with filamentous fungi, protein expression, and high-throughput screening is a plusDemonstrated experience with genetic engineering of microorganisms is requiredExperience in flow cytometry, “omics” techniques, microscopy, and microfluidics is a plusAbout IFF, Inc (International Flavors & Fragrances):Here, we boldly bring together science and creativity to create what the world needs.
