Sunday, Nov 10, 2024 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) - Applications will continue to be accepted until this date, but those received after the review date will only be considered if the position has not yet been filled.Position DescriptionThe University of California, San Francisco Sandler-Moore Mass Spectrometry (MS) Core Facility invites applications for an Associate Specialist position in the field of comparative proteomics. The position requires a master's degree (or equivalent degree) in chemistry, biology, biochemistry (or related field) or five to ten years of relevant experience. The selected candidate must have expertise as a mass spectrometrist in the field of comparative proteomics.The candidate will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in a variety of MS-based applications for the analysis of proteins/peptides with an emphasis on protein identification and quantification. Responsibilities include:Strong analytical instrumentation skills including operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mass spectrometers and nanoflow HPLC systems.Experience in proteomics data acquisition and analysis including label-free (SWATH, spectral counting) and absolute quantification (MRM/SRM) workflows, statistics, and network/pathway analysis.Familiarity with ProteinPilot and Proteome Discoverer software packages is highly desirable.Skilled in protein/peptide sample preparation techniques including BCA/NanoDrop protein quantification, SDS-PAGE, and in-gel and solution proteolytic digestion protocols.Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.Excellent oral and written communication skills.The Sandler-Moore Mass Spectrometry Core Facility serves as a mass spectrometry resource for the UCSF proteomics research community. Highly trained staff operate and maintain the instrumentation, along with associated bioinformatics hardware and software that allows the facility to offer a comprehensive suite of MS-based proteomic services.Screening of applicants will begin immediately and will continue as needed throughout the recruitment period. Salary will be commensurate with the applicant's experience and training, with a reasonable estimate for this position being $67,400-78,500.Please apply online at
