Join us and let’s get started.Job DescriptionAECOM has an opening for an experienced Geologist or Hydrogeologist in our Sacramento or Oakland office to assist with a variety of projects including data management, site investigations and remediation. The successful candidate will assist with gathering and analyzing geological, hydrogeological and geochemical data in both the field and office settings. The field activities will consist of soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, air and soil vapor sample collection, geological logging and interpretation, and the oversight of subcontractors including laboratories and excavation and drilling companies. The office activities will involve preparation of investigation reports and providing support to junior to mid-level staff on projects. Will involve task managing one or more persons on field activities and supporting project managers to help accomplish tasks. Successful candidate is required to relocate to the Sacramento or Oakland area.Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:Support a wide range of environmental investigation and remediation projects under CERCLA, RCRA, and State jurisdictions.Contribute directly to the preparation and review of technical project deliverables (e.g., work plans, remedial investigations, and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments).Conduct soil, groundwater, and vapor intrusion sampling.Contribute on projects regarding technical approach, numerical analysis, cost estimation, planning, design, scheduling, quality control, and safety.Job duties will involve both field work and office assignments with occasional overnight travel required.Developing clear and defensible CSMs for complex sites.Conducts research and does investigation work as required.Plans and organizes project studies.Assists in the resolution of conflicting technical information and unsuitability of standard procedures.Understanding of CERCLA, RCRA, state regulations, and waste management requirements.Developing UFP QAPP and other Federal project documents.Evaluating complex environmental data sets, including the use of modeling and statistics.Preparing work plans, technical reports, and presentations for technical meetings with clients and regulators.Performs complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems.Actively communicating with the technical team and Project Manager.May oversee the work of less experienced scientists.The responsibilities include but are not limited to:Utilizes advanced scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop technical solutions to complex problems.Interprets and records data, conducts analyses, compares findings to relevant studies and local, provincial and national regulations to ensure compliance. Work is performed with minimal direction.Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives of assignment. Responsible for advanced duties and activities in their specialized functional area.Conducts research and does investigation work as required.Plans and organizes project studies.Assists in the resolution of conflicting technical information and unsuitability of standard procedures.Performs complex assignments often requiring the development of unique solutions to problems.May oversee the work of less experienced scientists.QualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:BA/BS in geology, hydrogeology, environmental science or equivalent fieldMinimum 8 years of experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education.Professional Geologist Registration in CaliforniaValid Driver's LicenseUS Citizen or Permanent Resident.PREFERRED REQUIREMENTSMaster’s degree preferred.Business or proposal development experience.Experience and knowledge of California environmental regulations.Experience with developing conceptual site models (CSM) and preparing remediation strategies.Experience completing contaminant fate and transport evaluation.Experience conducting risk assessments is a plus.Knowledge of vapor intrusion sampling methods and CSM development.Experience developing and preparing reports for submittal and acceptance for technical clients and regulators.Demonstrated ability to collaborate with clients and project team.Ability to write and review complex technical documents, perform high level review and strategy.Ability to prepare graphics and reports that present complex technical matter in a clear and concise manner.Computer proficient in a variety of statistical programs helpful.Strong team worker, flexible.Attention to detail and a thorough approach to work.Ability to multitask and have strong communication skills.Organized and able to work within a team of technical experts.Able to work well in a team setting.Learn and develop a keen understanding of hazard recognition.Ability to travel up to 20% to regional job sites.Computer proficient in MS Office programs.Additional InformationCompensationExempt Position: Offered rate of compensation California will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
