Environmental Finance Business Analyst

As an Environmental Finance Business Analyst, you will translate simple requirements into analytical applications and solutions that inform business cases. You will routinely provide the Port with significant cost and process savings that also contribute directly to the success of the department’s business plans.

Responsibilities:

You will support the Finance team Port-wide, with programming and data management in Alteryx Data and system management.You will design, build, and maintain basic to intermediate business intelligence (BI) solutions to effectively deliver information, create low touch reporting, and develop repeatable financial reports.You will use data visualization tools to communicate actionable insights across multiple data sources, build and maintain reports, and support the development of innovative programs/solutions using data sources.You will continuously maintain an understanding of BI technology, architecture, methodologies, and best practices, and use BI and data science skills to play a role in the development and successful implementation of the analytics, data mining, and statistical modeling program. You will also build additional BI capability through training programs, and one-on-one assistance.You will be a technical resource for reporting and analytics projects using BI technology such as data modeling tools like Tableau or Alteryx, AI programs, and data extraction/querying from financial systems, and keep up to date with new technologies, tools, and trends in data analytics and apply them to improve business performance.You will collaborate with internal and external teams on projects and work with IT to ensure data security and compliance with regulatory requirements, and be responsible for management, ordering, inventory and tracking of small or attractive asset tags including Information Communications & Technology (ICT) mobility.You will be responsible for managing concurrent analytical and process improvement projects using lean management practices and analyze existing processes and workflows to locate obstacles and bottlenecks. You will research, test, and evaluate solutions using SharePoint, SQL, Oracle, Excel, Alteryx, and Tableau.You will identify, plan, and implement key projects to improve quality, reduce costs, increase productivity and improve cycle time.You will report on spending throughout the year for the Maritime Environmental and Sustainability team, Stormwater Utility, and other supported departments, and make recommendations on frequency and scope of performance measurements.You will perform other duties as assigned.

Who you are:

Experienced – You have two (2) years of experience using Tableau and Alteryx business intelligence tools, as well as two (2) years of demonstrated UI/UX experience in application and reporting design.Educated – You have completed Alteryx and Tableau Training or coursework.Desired – We hope you have a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Computer Science/Programming.Committed to Equity – You will apply equity and exemplify shared values, behaviors, and practices in all aspects of the work. Additionally, you can effectively communicate across many levels of the organization.

What else you need to know:

Work Schedule – Your normal work schedule will be Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Slightly more flexible start and end times are available in this role.Work Environment - This work will take place in a hybrid remote/in-office setting at Management’s discretion.Grade Review – The pay range and grade for non-represented positions are under review and subject to change as part of the Port’s work to implement a new pay program. This review is intended to ensure that positions are aligned with the new program that will be implemented in early 2024.Washington State Residency Requirement – Employees must establish a residence in Washington state within 30 days of their first day of employment and must maintain a residence in Washington State during their employment with the Port of Seattle. If a position is eligible to telework, work performed while teleworking must be performed in Washington State.
