The analyst will work closely with teammates, peers, and management on various accounting and reporting activities including preparation of internal and external reporting, monthly journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and financial statement analysis. The analyst will interact frequently with various groups to support these activities and other transactions and decisions. The position will analyze and research ad-hoc requests, develop reporting, and effectively prepare presentations for management review and decision making. Employee must have strong technical knowledge and research capabilities to ensure compliance with GAAP and FERC.This position works closely with internal teams within the overall Controller’s organization as Investor Relations, Finance, Rates & Regulatory, Legal, Treasury and Tax to ensure complete and accurate financial statements. Effective communication and relationship building are crucial to succeed in this role. Responsibilities of this role also include leading projects, setting priorities, and special projects as needed. Employees at this level work independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations. Incumbents are required to have in-depth knowledge and experience and demonstrated ability to work to solve complex problems/issues. Incumbents also provide advice and direction to less experienced employees.Responsibilities

Prepare and review monthly and quarterly internal and external reportsCash flow preparation and reviewJournal entry and account reconciliation preparation and reviewAssist with SOX documentation and control updates and monitoringPrimary contact for SEC and other corporate reportingCoordination of data to support quarterly / annual Investor Relations presentationsProvide review and support to other team membersAssist with data requests from SEC reporting, internal and external auditors and other customersPrepare and review schedules used for SEC financialsEnsure that GAAP and FERC reporting requirements are metDocument significant accounting issues and conclusionsProvide accounting support as needed for non-routine transactions as well as large strategic initiativesUnderstand and maintain proper business and financial processes to ensure adherence to internal controls and policiesBe a resource and provide training when applicable to less experienced analystsIdentify process improvements and assist in implementation to produce efficiencies at all stages of the accounting processRequired/Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting/Finance or related disciplineFive (5) plus years of increasingly diverse or complex experience in related field in addition to degreeDesired Qualifications

Masters degree in Accounting or Business AdministrationIn addition to desired degree, 8 years related work experienceCPAProficient using Microsoft products such as Excel, Word, and PowerPointPossesses and applies fundamental accounting and finance concepts, practices, and proceduresEffective communication, both oral and written, and collaboration skillsExperience with financial applications (i.e., PeopleSoft FMIS, OneStream, Power Plant, etc.) and query tool (Business Objects)CPA or CPA candidate or Graduate degree in Accounting, Business or related fieldsPrevious experience with internal/external reportingStrong communication skillsStrong Microsoft Excel skills using advanced formulas to perform analytics and streamline work tasksDemonstrate ability to work in a team environment and foster good relationships with teammates and business partnersAdvanced analytical and critical thinking skillsStrong technical accounting knowledgeExperience with accounting research tools, such as DART (Deloitte Accounting Research Tool), PWC Inform, or otherPrevious experience in utility, utility asset or regulatory accounting environment.Experience with monthly close process, general accounting, and financial reporting (FERC/GAAP)Ability to effectively perform at the experienced analyst level, including ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and adhere to strict deadlines and schedulesWorking & Other Conditions
