Job Summary:

Financial Aid/ Financial Services Manager Remote Temp/ Consulting Position - Paying $45-50 per hour Temporary Position that will last for 6-8 months or more. This position is responsible for the operations, activities and customer service in the Finance Services Office and Financial Aid departments. This position reports directly to the Associate Vice President for Finance/ Controller. This position works closely with the Director of Financial Aid and AR/AP Manager providing support to ensure timely completion of project deliverables.

Responsibilities:

Monitors, reviews, and verifies accounting records and transactions for accuracy, timeliness, and adequacy of supporting documentation. Ensures compliance with internal policies, agency rules and regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).

Prepares reports and statements from available accounting data following prescribed formats. Reviews and analyzes reports for accuracy, problems, and trends and makes recommendations to upper management.

Identifies problems and interacts with internal and/or external contacts, as required, to correct deficiencies and/or discrepancies.

Reconciles accounts to the College’s financial system GL, AP, and Financial Researches and resolves problems and adjusts accordingly. Ensures supporting documentation exists for audit purposes.

Serves as a resource for funding agencies and/or other organizations to provide requested or required financial information and clarifies or researches issues as necessary.

Serves as a front line contact for internal customers and external vendors for student loan related questions.

Responds to student inquiries regarding federal and private student loans certified by the SFS Staff.

Responds to student inquiries regarding alternate loans not certified by SFS working directly with independent national lending agencies.

Verifies NSLDS information related to students’ loans and enrollment and communicates this information to students if required.

Establish and maintain effective and productive working relationships within a diverse and multicultural environment. Work with staff as a team leader to provide high quality, efficient and exceptional service.

Must be responsive to work-related phone calls and emails during non-business hours. Works closely with students and their families on resolving loan debt related inquiries. Ability to develop knowledge based FAQ on a website related to projects.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Experience with accounting methods and procedures related to specialized accounts such as those involving monthly financial reporting and tax reporting.

Thorough knowledge of accounting practices.

Knowledge of auditing and tax procedures. Ability to review and process 1099’s.

Experience with integrated financial software packages with preference for Banner, an Ellucian ERP. Knowledge of business intelligence tools.

Demonstrated problem solving, decision-making and analytical skills.

Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel.

Understanding of the federal and private student loan certification, disbursement, and repayment processes.

Ability to effectively communicate student loan information to students and families and manage and review loan documents.

Exhibits a strong customer service orientation for all levels of College constituencies and members of the public.

Ability to take appropriate steps to promote and sustain effective working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment.

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting, finance or related field.

5+ years management operations of a business office function (preferably in a higher education, or non-profit environment), including accounts payable, cashiering and banking, and supervision of others.

For this role is the ability to comply with COVID-19 health and safety protocols, including COVID-19 vaccination proof and/or rigorous testing.
