Moffatt & Nichol is actively searching for a senior engineer or planner to lead and manage offshore wind studies and offshore wind port infrastructure development projects on the US West Coast.

The ideal candidate will have background experience as a civil, structural, or coastal engineer with experience in port infrastructure projects and strong interest or experience in the offshore wind industry. Alternatively, the candidate will have experience working with developers and port infrastructure owners to plan and/or operate ports, preferably in the offshore wind market. This position will be client-facing and will include project management, task management, and business development responsibilities. This position will be responsible for leading engineering, planning, design, and analysis activities for waterfront, port, and maritime infrastructure projects. This position may be seated at any of our west coast offices including: San Diego, Costa Mesa, Long Beach, Oakland, or Walnut Creek, CA; Federal Way or Seattle, WA.Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are currently leading significant OSW studies for the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), the State of California, and other federal, state, and private agencies. In addition, Moffatt & Nichol is engaged as the engineer of record and prime consultant to lead the planning, permitting, and engineering to redevelop an existing 168-acre site at the Port of Humboldt to serve the OSW industry.

The firm provides clients worldwide with customized service and a level of excellence that have become the firm's hallmark in several primary practice areas - ports and harbors; coastal, environmental and water resources; urban waterfronts and marinas; transportation, bridges and rail; inspection and rehabilitation; and energy.Duties and responsibilities:Perform project management dutiesAttend and lead client meetings including development of meeting minutesLead the development of contract documents for various project delivery methods including drawings, specifications, basis of design, technical reports, technical memorandums, cost estimates, quantity take-offs, project, and construction schedules, etc.Lead the development of analysis, modeling, capacity calculations and calculation reportsLead the implementation of quality control and quality assurance on projectsCoordinate closely with business managers and technical leaders in the company to advance initiativesCoordinate with coastal, civil, transportation, mechanical, electrical, construction, inspection, permitting/environmental and other disciplines as required to deliver projectsManage subconsultants and construction services throughout project lifecyclesPerform periodic site visits and attend client meetings as requiredBuild relationships with existing and new clientsParticipate in projects pursuits / opportunities including positioning, team building, proposal writing, interviewing and contract negotiationMentor and train junior engineering and planning staffActively participate in initiatives to grow the team as required through hiring of interns and junior staffQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or Naval Architecture required; Master's degree in Structural, Coastal or Civil Engineering or Naval Architecture preferred; OR Bachelor's degree in Planning with a Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning requiredProfessional Engineer in CA, OR, WA, or HI OR Professional Planner Certification (AICP)10 to 20 years of experience in port engineering/planningProven ability to implement and manage both small- and large-scale projects and studiesExperience in the offshore wind industry

port engineering/planningPossession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)Strong communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills and ability to work with a team approachBase salary range:$104,408 to $173,612 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.Physical requirements:Majority of work is office-based.
