$64,868.00 - $89,774.00 AnnuallyPosition DescriptionMinneapolis Water Treatment & Distribution Services (WTDS), a division of the City’s Public Works Department, is the largest drinking water utility in the upper Midwest. We take great pride in making significant contributions to the public health and safety of the community by delivering drinking water to over a half million people in the City of Minneapolis and its surrounding communities and providing water for firefighting.RoleThis impactful position will play a critical role in improving the utility’s information management and reporting processes for our water treatment control systems. This job is primarily focused on:Supporting and training operations staff and others in the use of our existing reporting system and enhancing the system through the development of reports, dashboards, and other metrics;Reviewing current business practices and offering technical solutions to create efficiencies and improve workflows;Supporting a variety of other software systems such as meter reading, laboratory equipment and control system technologies.Work Location:

This position may be eligible for flexible work arrangements, including hybrid work with some days working remotely and some days working in the office.Working Condition:

Normal Office SettingJob Duties And ResponsibilitiesFacilitate collaboration and understanding between users and technical staff, including vendors, contractors, and City IT.Identify business and application needs, prepare report specifications, and test applications.Analyze data and facilitate business process reviews in order to offer technical solutions that address the needs of the business.Develop reports by extracting data from various systems and sources.Perform system and security setup.Identify and troubleshoot software problems.Manage the division’s SharePoint implementation and other collaborative information sharing solutions.Assist and train users.Conduct or manage reviews of procedures manuals and user guides.Administer and maintain system documentation, including application manuals.Develop temporary and long-term solutions for both hardware and software issues.Perform system monitoring and testing to ensure reliability.Communicate system and application changes.Assist in supporting a variety of water treatment and distribution software systems.Required QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or equivalent.Minimum Experience:

Three years experience performing related duties.Equivalency:

An equivalent combination of education and experience closely related to the duties of the position MAY be considered.Selection ProcessThe selection process will consist of one or more of the following steps: a rating of relevant education and experience (100%). If the hiring authority decides to interview other than by exam score order, they may select additional people to interview based on a candidate’s education or experience related to the field, work history, or skills uniquely related to the operational needs of the position.Knowledge, Skills And AbilitiesKnowledge of third-party software, such as Cognos, Tableau or other BI tools, SQL, Visio, Microsoft Applications, and Smartsheet.Strong ability to learn new applications and technologies.Experience with Python, JavaScript, Visual Basic or similar programming languages.Knowledge of database applications, software, and network systems.
