Qualifications

This position will favor someone with a strong Front-End/UX design skillsetA minimum of 2-3 years demonstrated experience: UX designer, interactive designer, front-end designer, or equivalentMust be able to work with users to establish workflowsMust be able to obtain a security clearanceHave a diverse portfolio and the ability to work in a variety of styles and mediaExamples of highly detailed wireframes and designsAbility to use and participate in shaping a design systemAn excellent understanding of typographyProficient using various design tools (ex: Adobe Creative Suite, AdobeXD or Figma)Ability to communicate and work as part of a team, as well as independentlySelf-starter with excellent time-management skills and the ability to meet challenging deadlinesPossess strong communication skills, both oral and writtenDeductive reasoning, listening, flexibility, and critical thinking skills and the ability to predict problems before they occurAbility to easily adapt and learn new things, whether it’s a new prototyping tool, design process, or business processKnowledge of CSS/SCSS or JavascriptKnowledge of Google Design SprintsKnowledge of agile software developmentFine arts backgroundAbility to travel frequently to Northern Virginia or relocateResponsibilities

The UX/UI Designer helps shape and mold products at DIThe creative professional will be developing designs and experiences for a web platformYou will be using a design system to create flowcharts, wireframes, prototypes, and mockupsYou will be responsible for the design from start to finishCreate wireframes, designs and prototypes for web, with possibility of mobile or desktop, to include spaces of all shapes and sizesMap out user flows and information architectureUtilize user research as an input to the design processLaunch your ideas, which means working from kickoff through development and getting sign-off along the way (e.g. final wires and flows, specs, use cases, etc)Prototype your ideas – whether high or low fidelity using the Adobe Suite, AdobeXd or FigmaWork closely with Project Managers and the Development team to craft and iterate on project needs and goalsDefine problems and opportunitiesBenefits
