Applicants will be selected from this pool for one year; some appointments begin in the fall quarter and others in winter and spring quarters. The number of positions varies from quarter to quarter and may be renewed based on need and performance. Successful applicants may have an opportunity to teach in our Summer Session's course offerings.EDS is an interdisciplinary department committed to equity and grounded in a close intersection between research and practice. Our mission is to collaboratively transform educational systems to better serve all students and our new colleague will share that passion.Teaching Responsibilities:Potential courses include (not exhaustive): EDS 128AB/139, EDS 129ABC/139, EDS 201, EDS 203, EDS 205AB, EDS 250, EDS 349, EDS 351, EDS 355ABC, EDS 361ABC, EDS 369ABC, EDS 370ABC, EDS 379ABC, EDS 380ABC, EDS 381, EDS 382.The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in our graduate level professional preparation programs, which will be assigned based on expertise:MEd/Multiple Subjects CredentialMEd/Single Subjects Credential in: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and World LanguagesMA in American Sign Language - English Bilingual Education, including Multiple Subject and Education Specialist: Deaf and Hard of Hearing CredentialsIn addition to having demonstrated the highest standards of scholarship and professional activity, the preferred candidates will have experience or demonstrated contributions to a climate that supports equity, inclusion and diversity.General Duties:EDS Professional Preparation courses meet face-to-face unless otherwise indicated and may be scheduled during the day, late afternoons, or in the evening on the UCSD campus. In addition to teaching responsibilities, duties include holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students and preparing course materials. Duties may also include: assisting in program events, trainings, and meetings; assisting with student teacher field placements and communicating with cooperating teachers; reading and responding to candidate lesson plans and other written materials each week; conducting a minimum of four formal classroom observations per candidate each quarter at assigned placement school sites during the P-12 school day; attending evening seminar courses; and completing candidate evaluations, program reports and required documentation according to deadlines.Department:
