Senior Data Scientist, RMA Demand Planning

Services and Logistics is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to create new Demand Planning capability. In this role, you will lead a team of data scientists to establish a comprehensive forecasting capability for Service Return Material Authorizations (RMAs) using both statistical and causal forecasting techniques.

Who You Will Work With

Interact with product and service teams to identify drivers of demand and formulate data science projects.Collaborate with initiative leaders to build a prioritized backlog of features and user stories.Oversee the successful execution of Minimum Viable Products for forecast information delivery and analysis.Seek continuous feedback and monitor model performance to promote iterative product development.Design ML Operational systems, workflows, and data models to support an agile development lifecycle inclusive of data visualization and predictive analytics.Coach peers and collaborators on methods and procedures to elevate the Analytics team in the areas of Machine Learning and Data Science.Document processes, new and existing data models, solutions, and implementations.Develop and code algorithms and automated processes to cleanse, integrate, and evaluate large datasets from multiple disparate sources.Identify meaningful insights from large data and metadata sources; interpret and communicate insights and findings from analysis and experiments to product, service, and business managers.What You Will Do

The hired person will analyze the business for drivers of demand for RMAs as well as classify historical RMA demand. In addition, you will design time series forecasting models to predict RMAs, considering trend, seasonality, and calibration and establish causal factor models to predict RMAs based on product installed base, predicted failure rates, customer behavior, telemetry data, and environmental factors.Produce forecasts at both Product (global) and SKU (location) levels.Generate forecasts at monthly, quarterly, yearly, and long-range intervals.Compile aggregate forecasts for supply chain at customer, product, and geography levels.Provide advisory insights to senior business leaders based on forecast (demand outliers, expected demand variation, impact of forecast on strategic metrics).Design forecast performance (accuracy) and monitoring capability.Present forecast performance and advisory insights to senior leaders in weekly operations reviews.Integrate the forecast into supply planning and other operations-oriented systems.Collaborate with supply planners, logistics analysts, product quality analysts, and related operations SMEs.Establish work breakdown structure and development work plans for all work.Mentor other data scientists.Who You Are

You are an experienced professional who has expertise in data science model development including classification, forecasting, and prediction models. You have worked in a supply chain environment and have experience analyzing a service supply chain. You have a track record of taking initiative, setting direction and completing tasks with minimal supervision. You have an effective record of driving solutions from Machine Learning projects, prioritizing effectiveness and explainability over model accuracy. You have experience with both open source and commercial analytics software, and have the ability to apply both in business operations.BS, MS, or PhD or equivalent experience in Data Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field.8+ years of proven experience in a professional data scientist role.12+ years of proven experience in writing advanced SQL, data modeling, and data mining, data wrangling from multiple sources (SQL, ETL, data warehousing). Knowledge of Snowflake and Oracle databases is critical.5+ years of proven experience in visualization design and development with Python based libraries, Tableau/PowerBI, or other data visualization tools.Additional Differentiators

Experience in Cisco CX or Supply Chain is preferred, as the ideal candidate will have knowledge of the service and supply businesses and relevant business data architectures.Oracle EBS and Pegasystems experience is highly preferred.Ability to coach and support team members both within and outside of your own areas of expertise, as demonstrated through previous team lead or tech leadership roles.ML Operations expertise.Why Cisco
