The Athletic’s newsroom has produced thousands of in-depth articles along with more than 120 podcasts and premium video content.About the RoleOur subscription business has grown rapidly over the past few years, driven by our investment in high quality content and an enthusiastic user base. We need an experienced growth leader to help us take the business to the next level, including continuing to grow subscriptions as well as expanding products that drive sponsorship revenue.ResponsibilitiesSet the high-level strategic direction for the Growth Product organization, including close collaboration and alignment with cross-functional partners, the rest of the Product org, and the C-Suite.Own quarterly business goals, including subscription targets and key funnel metrics.Hire, coach, and manage a team of 2 Growth Product Managers.Define the direction and own the execution of pricing & packaging for our core subscription business.Evaluate the tradeoffs between different growth opportunities.Work with the business development team to execute the product work needed for key partnership deals.Own performance management of growth funnels.Develop engaging and effective user journeys.Develop and execute on a vision for growth platforms.Set the bar for best-in-class experimentation processes.Bring a strong industry perspective to shape our growth strategy.Requirements7+ years of relevant experience, including experience in high-growth consumer companies and/or subscription businesses.Experience owning growth product strategy and roadmaps.Experience hiring and managing product managers.Strong leader who can work with teams across the company.Analytical background and high level of comfort with data.Ability to think and communicate at multiple levels.Practices extreme ownership.The Athletic is an equal opportunity employer and enthusiastically encourages people from all backgrounds and experiences to apply.
