As a CoStar Software Engineer in Test, you will be responsible for the testing and verification of software systems. SDETs utilize a combination of functional testing methods, automated testing tools and load testing tools. Typically, responsible for writing test cases that ensure compliance with acceptance criteria developed during sprint planning. SDETs are typically embedded with development teams. Ensures adequate product testing prior to each release. Responsible for tracking bugs and retesting as bugs are fixed.

This position is located in Washington, DC and offers a hybrid schedule of 3 days onsite, 2 days remote.

Responsibilities

Ensures that products conform to business requirements/company policies, software quality standards, and established procedures.Design and build automation tests using existing tools and frameworks.Promote Development and QA team’s productivity through automation, tools, and other best practices.Work directly with Developers, QA Engineers, Product Managers, and Technical Business Analysts to ensure building testable and automated components.Designs, documents and implements procedures and techniques that are consistent with departmental SQA Methodology for analyzing, testing, and evaluating the risk (software & business), accuracy, completeness, internal integrity/consistency, testability and overall quality of business systems and SDLC processes.Creates and maintains SQA deliverables including test plans, test cases, test data, project test progress and release reports, application turnover documents and test schedules.Recommends and assists in corrective actions taken at all stages of product life.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree required from an accredited, not for profit university of college.A track record of commitment to prior employers.5+ years industry experience as an SDET or a software quality assurance test engineer.Experience with white box and grey box testing.Hands on experience in automation and testing frameworks and good understanding of automation testing strategies and tools.An understanding of quality assurance test methodologies, deliverables, processes, strategies, metrics, techniques, and the software development life cycle (SDLC) is critical.Knowledge of API Testing and Automation frameworks and working in an Agile environment.Experience testing mission-critical relational database applications, and web-based enterprise systems.Experience reporting, regressing, and reproducing software problems.Experience using Postman or Swagger.

Preferred Qualifications And Skills

Experience in C# and/or .NET frameworks.Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio and Azure DevOps.Experience with AWS Services such as DynamoDB, S3, etc.Must be detail-oriented and possess strong organizational, written and verbal skills.Proven capacity to effectively interface with dynamic development teams.Ability to prioritize, multi-task and proactive.Strong working knowledge of SQL and Relational Databases with relational databases (administration and T-SQL).
