The candidate for this position must have completed a Pediatric Rheumatology Fellowship from an ACGME accredited program.Clinical CareProvide primarily outpatient consultative care to infants, children, and adolescents with known or suspected rheumatologic conditions.Opportunities to partner with medical and surgical colleagues to serve children with complex conditions in multidisciplinary programs.Teaching and ResearchTeach medical students, residents, and allied health students.Clinical and translational research opportunities abound for qualified candidates.Academic appointment commensurate with experience.The Department of Pediatrics and our pediatric subspecialists (collectively, Ochsner Hospital for Children) represent over 230 pediatric physicians. The group is the region's leading integrated provider of multispecialty care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults. We offer a full range of pediatric services including bone marrow transplantation, solid organ transplantation, pediatric cardiovascular surgery, and a comprehensive pediatric surgical sub-specialty group, as well as the region's only comprehensive multidisciplinary developmental center. We utilize a 54-bed Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a 14-bed PICU, a 12-bed pediatric CVICU, a 44-bed pediatric acute unit, a pediatric emergency room, and dedicated, full-time, region-wide in-house pediatric and neonatal transport teams. In December 2023 Ochsner announced the building of a new separate, comprehensive, dedicated Children's Hospital on our main health sciences campus, with expected opening in 2027. Ochsner Hospital for Children continues to be a top destination for pediatric care in the Gulf South region through an unwavering commitment to always putting patients first.Ochsner Children's is a rapidly expanding 125-bed children's hospital offering a full range of pediatric care from primary to quaternary care, with services offered in all subspecialties, and includes Congenital Cardiac Surgery, Advanced GI and Hepatology, Advanced Orthopedic Surgery, Hematology-Oncology, Cleft Palate/Cranio-Facial Surgery, as well as heart, liver, and bone marrow transplant. Much of Ochsner Children's care is provided by multi-disciplinary teams dedicated to complex conditions. The hospital not only performed the first pediatric heart/kidney transplant in the region but is also the top congenital heart program in the state (both in volume and outcomes).
