Freedom Consulting Group is looking for a Data Scientist. The position is based in Washington DC at the United States Agency for International Development's (USAID).
The Data Scientist is responsible for assisting with analyzing the People's Republic of China (PRC)'s impact on development globally, a key and highly visible foreign policy issue within USAID. From day to day, you will work to translate large and complex datasets to produce insights and actionable recommendations to key stakeholders in USAID missions and leadership. Primary responsibilities will include managing data libraries, dashboards, supporting analytical requests, and working with stakeholders within USAID and in the broader interagency. The position is in USAID's Bureau of Planning, Learning, and Resource Management (PLR) in the Office of Policy Implementation and Analytics (PIA).
Responsibilities:
Apply advanced statistical methods and work with a variety of datasets related to the management and execution of international development programs. Derive insights from structured and unstructured data. Provide inputs to future programs and strategies in various international development and national security sectors.Provide analytical decision-making support on key projects. Proactively research new ways of modeling data to unlock actionable insights.Manage a Tableau-based website and lead the development and publication of new Tableau dashboards.Partner with non-technical stakeholders to understand their needs, help frame problems by asking the right questions, and prioritize requirements. Ensure that new approaches solve worthwhile problems.
Required Qualifications:
Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level clearance.Master's degree and 4 years of relevant experience or Bachelor's degree and 6 years of relevant experience. Degree must have a quantitative focus (quantitative social science such as economics, computer science, physics, mathematics, engineering, statistics or related).Experience as an analyst or in an analytical role.Strong proficiency with visualization in Tableau and publishing Tableau dashboards, advanced-level experience preferred.Ability to code in R or Python.Demonstrated ability to independently plan, organize, and implement major tasks and analyses within strategic programs or initiatives with minimal supervision.
Desired Qualifications:
Familiarity with the PRC and its foreign policy is a plus.Experience related to global development and/or in developing country contexts is a plus.
