This team's charter is to develop wireless and wired networking features to delight eero's consumer and business customers.The role requires a manager who is a technical leader, has a deep understanding of embedded and business networking use cases and solutions, can drive projects from product ideation through design, implementation, deployment, and field monitoring, and iterative improvements in performance and customer experience; a team player who works well with peers of all levels and is comfortable and effective in an uncertain, fast-moving environment.This is an opportunity to have a significant impact on all aspects of a new product line while working to build a world-class company that embodies great design, attention to detail, technological innovation, and quality.Key job responsibilitiesManage and develop a high-performance team of engineersIdentify, champion, and deliver the highest impact engineering investments that your team needs in order to continue to deliver in the long termPartner with the Product team in defining and refining new requirementsCollaborate with engineers, managers, and other stakeholders on requirements and execution of projectsGuide and sometimes lead the definition of the technical solutions that would meet product requirementsManage, motivate and support the team members through their personal and professional challengesCommunicate a rolled-up status in an understandable way to a wide range of audiencesEstimate delivery dates with confidence intervals based on the measured team velocity, remaining work, and projected new workA day in the lifeeero is a small and dynamic organization, and you will have a fair amount of control over how you pursue your and your team's goals. You will be constantly cooperating with other teams, within the Connectivity (Access Point Software) org, and with peers in the cloud, data, mobile, product, support, and sales teams.About The TeamWe are a small and energetic team, committed to eero's and Amazon's success, as well as to personal growth.We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:Los Gatos, CA, USA | San Francisco, CA, USABasic QualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field8+ years of engineering experience3+ years of experience managing development teamsDeep understanding of embedded networking, especially in Linux environmentsKnowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operationsAbility to correctly prioritize short and long-term prioritiesAbility to handle and manage competing prioritiesAbility to correctly guide the team's work, based on previous experience or educated assessmentAbility to implement and enforce high-quality standards in engineering deliverablesPreferred QualificationsExperience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategyExperience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching, and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective product software engineersExperience in designing, implementing, and shipping new productsExperience in hiring, mentoring, and growing new engineers and managersExperience with C, Python, and Golang programming languagesExperience with cloud-managed WifiExperience with small-business and enterprise networkingFamiliarity with wireless protocolsAbility to quickly ramp up on the essentials of new technical areasAmazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market.
