QA Manager

SPAN is looking for an experienced manager and technical leader for the QA team. SPAN QA drives a quality strategy in collaboration with developers and product for a complex hardware/software ecosystem. The SPAN products are designed to facilitate the electrification of millions of homes, and the quality of the products is key to legal compliance and the safety of our customers. The QA team works closely with Mobile, Web, Cloud, Device Software, the Systems and Systems Test team, Product, Design, and Customer Service in a mixture of Agile and Waterfall development.

In this role, you will:Lead and develop a team of world-class QA engineersBuild out a team of SDETs (Software Development Engineers in Test)Leverage automation and state-of-the-art tooling to drive an efficient, effective testing strategyEffectively advocate for the tooling and collaboration needs of the QA teamHelp the QA team thrive in a complex project management ecosystem with both Agile/Scrum and Waterfall sides of houseBe product and user obsessed; be an expert ally for our Product team, and a key stakeholder for user experienceDrive the right balance between software focused, and hardware awareBe the advocate for quality strategies cross-functionally; drive a vision of what is best done by developers versus what QA does bestBe responsible for a product that can impact the health and safety of SPAN users

About You

You are an automation-driven, software-focused but hardware aware manager and software engineer in test.

Required Qualifications

2 years of experience managing a team of SDETs and manual test engineers5 years of experience writing automated tests for mobile and web2 years of experience being responsible for QA on a product that touches hardwareFluency with Python or JavascriptExperience working with mobile and web testing tools and frameworks, such as Testrail, Selenium, Appium, BrowserStack, SauceLabsComfort with working with git, bashExperience working in a fast-paced startup environmentComfort building green-field testing infrastructureA deep toolkit of management-craft soft skills for supporting people through servant leadership

Bonus Qualifications

Experience in and preference for working in a rapid or continuous release cadenceExperience working in or managing Agile/Scrum or a ScrumMaster or ProductOwner certificationExperience in Javascript/TypescriptExperience integrating third-party testing and project management services together (e.g., Jira and Testrail) for automated monitoring and reporting

The U.S. base salary range for this position is $160,000- $204,000 plus benefits, equity, and variable compensation for Sales-related roles. This range represents SPAN’s good faith estimate of competitively-priced salary for the role based on national, real-time industry data from companies of a similar growth stage. This range reflects minimum and maximum new hire salaries for the role across US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by location and individual factors including relevant skills, experience, and education or training. This range correlates to the relative level of the candidate we believe we need for the role and may require an adjustment for candidates of a different level.
