Description
Position Summary: The Director of Sales will be responsible for the development and implementation of the total sales effort of the hotel, including securing new accounts, maintaining existing accounts, and executing sales and marketing strategies to maximize the profitability of the hotel while maintaining customer satisfaction.
Essential Functions:
Direct the solicitation efforts of the sales through effective oral and written communication while overseeing rate, date and space commitments for group room sales within the Hotel.Develop and implement sales strategies, packages, yield strategy, room rate mix, space release policies, contacts, catering segment mix and pricing strategies along with the Director of Revenue.Direct and manage all group, transient, and catering/banquet sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotel.Solicit group business within different market segments via telephone prospecting and outside sales calls.Maintain rapport and develop future business with existing contacts.Develop and maintain relationships with key clients to produce group business, including rooms sales, F&B sales, and catering/banquet services.Attend networking events and develop relationships with local community groups, companies, and trade organizations.Conduct site tours.Develop contracts and follow up with customers.Manage the departmental budget and monitor sales activity to ensure sales meet or exceed established profit plans.Complete required reports for the Vice President of Sales and Marketing and other key company leaders.Recruit, interview, hire, train, and manage the sales team, establishing booking goals and incentive plans.Ensure proper coverage of key accounts and assist with site inspections, client entertainment, trade shows, and FAM trips.Oversee social and digital marketing and public relations.Ensure training programs are conducted regularly and standards of performance are met.Coordinate ongoing research of the travel industry to detect market trends for new marketing strategies.Ensure guest and team member satisfaction while maintaining market competitiveness and exceptional financial performance.Anticipate and address guest issues to promote guest satisfaction.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred.Minimum of 2 years’ full-service hotel experience with revenue exceeding $20 Million preferred; preference for candidates with Hyatt sales experience.Previous sales experience within the hospitality industry required.Market knowledge preferred.Group and catering sales experience preferred.Excellent customer service skills.Display initiative, perseverance, and analytical skills.Available to meet with guests, which may include weekends.Active driver’s license required.Fluency in English with excellent grammar and communication skills (written and verbal).Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.This position is at a location where Hyatt is not the employer.
