OverviewVersiti Blood Center of Wisconsin (Versiti WI) invites applications for a full-time clinical Associate Medical Director position. The successful candidate will join our expanding team of
Clinical Transfusion Medicine (TM)
physicians who oversee blood bank and apheresis coverage at our partner hospitals. Clinical responsibilities include transfusion medicine consultations, oversight of QC/QA activities, medical oversight of plasma exchange, red cell exchange, photopheresis, LDL apheresis, and cellular collections. Teaching opportunities for medical students, residents, fellows, and SBB students are numerous and encouraged as well as opportunities for clinical research.
Versiti is an affiliation of blood centers in Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio, including the Versiti Blood Research Institute, which is in the Milwaukee area. The latter is the largest blood-focused research institute in the United States, housing over 30 basic, translational, and clinical researchers. The annual number of blood donors across Versiti exceeds 500,000.
ResponsibilitiesAs part of the Versiti Wisconsin Clinical TM Team, this physician will support and assist in medical leadership and direction of the Transfusion Service at our partner hospitals in the Milwaukee area. Responsibilities include providing patient care for therapeutic apheresis and cell therapy collections, consulting with physicians concerning TM practice and problems, and promoting blood management and quality improvement projects.
QualificationsRequired Experience:
M.D. or D.O. Degree
Board certified in clinical pathology, internal medicine, or pediatrics
Board certified/board eligible in Blood Banking/Transfusion Medicine
Eligible for a Wisconsin Medical License
