Downtown L.A. Proper Hotel is seeking an Event Sales & Services Manager. A one-of-a-kind historic retrofit, our 148-room property located in the heart of Los Angeles features interior design by international style icon Kelly Wearstler, multiple dining options by the James Beard Award-winning Lucques Group duo, a panoramic rooftop restaurant-bar & lounge featuring a swimming pool and 14,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
The Event Sales & Services Manager will be responsible for generating revenues within the markets assigned for restaurant and event space catering sales. This key role will partner with hotel, restaurant and culinary management to create compelling menus, coordinate timing of events and relay all necessary information and/or changes to maximize event profitability, ensuring that our clients have a unique, second-to-none event. The Event Sales & Services Manager is also responsible for the daily operations of the Event and Conference Services department.
Responsibilities
Build and foster relationships with clients by creating and coordinating meetings and eventsGenerate detailed group resumes and communicate with Hotel Department HeadsOptimize room rental charges and event upsell opportunitiesAssist with the monthly forecasting and the annual budget processHandle special projects as requested by the Director of Sales & MarketingAccount prospecting, solicitation, and development via telephone, personal contact, outside calls, correspondence, email and other means of communicationConduct event and meeting space site inspections, entertain both in house and off property, and maintain relationships thorough follow-up methodsProactively establish preferred partnerships with outside vendors to create benchmark standards, consistency in service and competitive pricingPrepare and present proposals and contracts both written and verbal in a prompt, accurate, profitable, pleasant and professional mannerEnsure billing accuracy and conducts bill reviews with the clients prior to processing the final billManage group room blocks and meeting space for groups and eventsLead formal pre-event and post-event meetings for small to average-sized assigned groupsDevelop and work from a quarterly action plan that encompasses Account Management, New Business Development and departmental profitabilityRequirements
3-5 years of hospitality experience in Sales/Events OperationsThorough knowledge of sales techniques including excellent selling and negotiating skills with strong market and account knowledgeCreative and innovative; proactive and customer-orientedStrong organizational and time management skillsExcellent communication skills both written and oralExcellent knowledge of computers, specifically Opera, Delphi, Word, Excel and event management software and customer management platformMust have a flexible work scheduleEducation
