Job SummaryThe Credit Risk Officer is responsible for reviewing and approving SBA loans and modifications up to a designated limit and for assigned credit products in order to maintain the desired balance between growth, profitability and credit quality. The Credit Risk Officer will collaborate with Credit Management leadership to guide SBA underwriting, enforce loan policy requirements and establish risk tolerances within the commercial loan portfolio.Essential FunctionsEnsure SBA underwriting product is consistent with established content and format requirements and aligned with Credit Policy.Maintain a knowledge and understanding of regulatory/accounting concepts affecting commercial credit, including Appraising/FIRREA, Troubled Debt Restructuring, Non-Accrual, and Impairment.Approve credit actions up to established lending authority.Participate in quarterly "watch list" meetings with lending and supervisory staff.Assist relationship managers with identification of problem credits.Analyze financial statements.Remain current on all banking rules and regulations relating to Credit Administration.Meet or exceed established service level expectations.Participate with the lending staff on commercial credit customer calls as needed.Independently review and analyze credit requests including large and complex commercial and industrial and commercial real estate with the objective of facilitating loan originations in a timely manner, within acceptable credit risk parameters.Maintain the desired balance between growth, profitability, and credit quality.Monitor, develop, and suggest revisions to workflows and procedures as necessary to enhance efficiency and minimize expenses.Recommend improvements to policies, procedures, and workflow to maximize efficiency and control costs.Identify potential for credit losses and proposing appropriate risk mitigants as appropriate.Ensure compliance with Northwest's policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations.Navigate Microsoft Office Software, computer applications, and software specific to the department to maximize technology tools and gain efficiency.Work as part of a team.Work with on-site equipment.Education and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance degree or related subject required.8-12 years of experience related to SBA Lending or Commercial Lending (CRE & C&I) preferred.Prior supervisory experience preferred.Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities
