Position/Job Summary:

Frontage is seeking an Associate Director/ Director of Business Development to grow its Genomic Services business. The focus of the role will be the development of new business opportunities for the genomic services group at Frontage, primarily from medium to large biotech and pharma companies engaging in discovery research, preclinical studies, or clinical trials where study endpoints require collection of genomic data. The types of pharma companies requiring genomic services often work in disease areas such as oncology, metabolic disorders, infectious disease, and rare heritable disorders, and frequently utilize cell and gene therapy as therapeutic approaches. In addition to new opportunities, the selected individual will develop and maintain long-term valued business relationships with both new and existing customers.

The Associate Director/ Director will also have the opportunity to cross-sell the wide variety of services offered by Frontage that are applicable to drug discovery, pre-clinical development, and clinical trials which will include Clinical, Central Lab, DMPK, CMC, and a wide variety of bioanalytical, biomarker, and biologic services offered within the Frontage Bioanalytical business unit.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Meet or exceed sales objectives for assigned region.

Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of the genomic services offered by Frontage including the areas of application for genomics within the pharma industry.

Coordinate efforts among the Marketing and Operations team to ensure the most effective lead generation methods and collateral are available to facilitate new sales.

Solicit and develop new business opportunities through direct selling, referrals, trade shows, conferences, meetings, etc.

Promptly respond to new BD leads and coordinate with internal support teams.

Qualify, pursue, and close new opportunities.

Assist with preparing proposals, quotes, and customer contracts.

Meet or visit existing and former customers periodically to reaffirm satisfaction and identify new and expanding opportunities with positive client engagement.

Identify decision-makers and areas of service needed.

Negotiate and close deals.

Keep accurate records of calls, meetings, and other activities (call reports) in CRM.

Develop and maintain an up-to-date pipeline of new business opportunities.

Develop a comprehensive understanding of all services offered for potential cross-selling opportunities.

Education, Experience & Skills Required:

BS, MS, or Ph.D.

3 or more years of work experience in the field of molecular biology or genomics, preferentially within the CRO, biotech, or pharma industries.

3 or more years of experience in instrumentation, reagents, or CRO services sales within the biotechnology industry. Candidates with experience selling genomic services or consumables would be preferred.

Solid knowledge of CRO, Biotech and Pharma industries with a grasp of pre-clinical GLP and clinical trial studies.

Expertise in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) applications or gene and cell therapeutic approaches would be a major advantage.

Ability to assess leads, value of new business, craft recommendations through effective written and oral presentations, work with scientific and marketing teams, and close deals.

Solid technical writing skills.

Excellent organization and planning skills.
