Join our team as we help shape the future.The Hartford’s Enterprise Data Services (EDS) goal is to achieve greater business value with data by simplifying architecture, streamlining, and standardizing process optimizing tools, and building a data culture across the enterprise.Data Governance and Stewardship is critical to the Data Strategy. The Enterprise Data Management Services team is seeking a Product Manager to reimagine and modernize Data Governance & Stewardship practices. You will help the organization become more data driven by establishing human-centric, modern data governance practices and work as an ambassador across the enterprise driving adoption.This role can have a Hybrid or Remote work arrangement. Candidates who live near Hartford, CT will have the expectation of working in an office 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday). Candidates who do not live near an office will have a remote work arrangement, with the expectation of coming into an office as business needs arise.Responsibilities:

Establish a human-centric, modern data governance practice with a portfolio of enabling capabilities that include data catalog and marketplace, metadata management, data lineage, data glossaries, mapping, and data quality rules & standardization.Collaborate closely with a cross-functional team of data consumers, data engineers, data stewards, and data privacy stakeholders to develop and deliver an ambitious roadmap that reimagines the experience with modern data governance services and prioritizes customer experience and feedback.Formulate clear, data-driven business cases, write feature specifications, manage project execution and sequencing, and communicate regular updates to stakeholders.Solve problems by analyzing data, usage patterns, and stakeholder empathy sessions to iteratively advance the offering of data governance capabilities.Analyze metrics to inform the success of product/service portfolio and develop action plans accordingly to maintain and improve key metrics (e.g., NPS, data product adoption rate, governance scorecard).Adopt an experimental methodology, mindset, and rigor to iteratively advance capabilities and build enthusiastic support across the data community.Act as a data governance ambassador, serving as a liaison between all business stakeholders, technical teams/data producers, data stewards, and data consumers to protect and promote adoption of data products and enterprise data assets.Establish and evangelize best practices for operating federated Data Governance councils and drive consistency in approach across the enterprise. When necessary, facilitate cross-enterprise collaboration to support data agendas and strategy.Reimagine / modernize roles and responsibilities of data stewards and partner across the enterprise to identify, coordinate, and engage with data stewards and internal partner organizations to drive data governance outcomes and manage data.Lead adoption of the enterprise data governance practices and monitor progress via KPIs.Engage and coordinate with stakeholders; proactively champion the value of data as a strategic business asset and promote governance practices in relation to this.Communicate early and often about the status of the data governance program and is committed to increasing data literacy across the enterprise.Support all users as they learn data; and provide user support for data governance tools (e.g., enterprise data catalog).Analyze business processes and have a deep understanding of the impact data has on business processes and outcomes and create training programs to upskill others.Continuously study data governance best practices and bring outside-in perspectives to drive modern views and keep up with the pace of change.May have direct reports, help find and hire new talent, work with multiple vendor partners, and other duties as assigned.Required Qualifications

10+ years of experience in technology (software development, data & analytics) with 4+ years in Product Management experienceBachelors’ degreeExperience owning full product lifecycle including roadmap, stakeholder inputs, prioritization, development, and management of success criteria post-launchExceptional planning and critical thinking skills.Strong written and verbal communication to interact effectively with both technical and nontechnical users at all levels of the organization, including senior executives.Ability to context switch and translate between highly technical discussions and what matters to non-technical business users.Excellent at data analysis and translating impacts across different rolesDemonstrates empathy for others in helping them do their jobs better, more efficientlyPrior experience in training others and excels at the art of storytellingProven track record of change management & influencing skills within a matrix environmentComfortable working in a matrixed environment; federated governance modelKnowledge of Agile Scrum/SAFE methodology; effective use Agile management tools (e.g., Rally Software, Jira)Preferred Qualifications

2+ years of Insurance industry experienceExperience with data governance tools (e.g., data catalogs, active metadata management platforms, master data management, and data lineage)Experience applying Human-centered design techniquesCompensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition.
